I have to say I am in for this one as well.

I'm off to e-mail KaBar...

Edited to add:

At KaBar's contact site: https://www.kabar.com/contact.jsp

To whom it may concern:

I am respectfully requesting that KaBar continue to pick up additional Becker designs and produce the Becker BK1 Brute.

I have original Camillus Becker and KaBar produced Becker BK2 and BK9 knives and I am very happy with the KaBar produced Becker knives.

There is a large grass-roots movement starting on www.bladeforums.com and other internet blade sites that support the production of the BK1 Brute and as an American Company, it would be a great thing if KaBar responded to the American Consumer and produced this fine blade.

I will continue to support KaBar but would be even happier if KaBar supported the demand of Becker fans and produced the BK1 Brute.

Thank you for your dedicated service.

Respectfully,

I'll throw my .02 cents worth in here, too, and say that I would love to be able to buy a new Ka-Bar made BK-1 Brute. I'm a big Fan of both Becker and Ka-Bar: a marriage made in heaven.

I was sorely disappointed when I got my hands on a camillus brute. It was much smaller and not as beefy as I had expected. I would much rather Ka-bar bring back a long machete type blade like the patrol machete, the machax, or even the reinhardt. But most of all I'd like them to reproduce the crewman.

In these threads, I always have to be a jerk and mention that I already have a Brute. Neener neener!

The Brute is a great design. Nice knife. I find the sheath on the Camillus to be somewhat lacking however, and the coating on the blade is waaaayyy too soft. I've worn quite a bit of the finish off of the blade just taking the knife in and out of the sheath. Haven't even been able to bring myself to use it.

After hearing Ethan over and over and over again explain in great detail why the brute isn't coming back..... I highly doubt it will be.

Then how come I can't seem to even spark any interest at the O.K.C.A. show with a new in the box, with 2002 catalogue, and sales rcp't; everyone wants something for nothing. R.

It seems strange to me because so many people love it, but Ethan reports that the BK1 simply did not sell well compared to the other models. and he firmly believes that the BK9 is a better chopper (which I agree with. I hate recurves). If the man says it didnt sell, then I believe him. And in the business.. if you dont make profit on it, you cant afford to make it.

Another vote for the resurrection of the Brute. It may not have sold then, it may sell now, shrug. Maybe we could do a small BF run or something akin :D Interesting that Ethan prefers the BK9 over the Brute for a chopper, I always thought the forward recurve and accompanying shift in balance on the Brute would make it a more efficient chopper. Isn't the Brute also a little thicker and heavier than the BK9?

The Camillus Brute has a 9" Blade as does the BK9 does anyone own both Knive's ? And If so does the BK9 keep up with the Camillus Brute In Cutting & Chopping ? The Camillus Brute's I've seen on E-Bay N.I.B. condition are close to 300.00, I'll go with the BK9 ! You just never know though what Becker and Ka-Bar might come up with next ? The BK7 and the BK9 are Great, I'd like to see a Becker Ka-Bar Heavy Duty Golok 14" Blade would be Nice, Woo-Wee !

I have both the Brute and the BK9, both by Camillus. I would say the Brute is the better chopper, thanks to more weight near the tip of the blade. And it'll take a baton all... day... long. It is a hefty blade, and aptly named. People used to refer to the BK1 as the 'poor man's Busse.' I can't atest to that, as I haven't owned a Busse ( though I hear they are nice).

Thank's for your Input, On both the Camillus Brute and the Camillus BK9, I'll stick with my Becker Ka-Bar's, Unless I run across a Great Deal on the Second Hand Market then I'll grab up the Camillus Brute and give It a try ! I've got enough Big Blade's to last to my End Day's, But I Am A Knife-A-Holic/Collector, And I'd still like to see a Becker Ka-Bar Golok "There Is a Market For The Big Cutting /Chopping Blade's !
