Sounds good to me! I'd love to try some birchbark out. And Im great with the cotton ball method. Can get it with just a tiny amount. No need to waste a whole cotton ball.
I have been working on different ferro rod methods as well. I'll share my ideas on the subject. haha.

Bow drills too maybe. Feather stick methods? Whatever we can think off.

I have tons of Birch Bark, I'll see what I can do about sending some Ethan's way before the Gathering. Also, did someone say Feather stick? :(:D Sucks that I won't be able to make this one...

Reminds me . . . I have a small 'care package' I need to send to the gathering but have misplaced Ethan's snail mail address.

Wonder if someone could send it to me right away so I can get the package in the mail ? ? ?

I have a fresnel lens that will start fires - but I'm not hauling it across country, as it's 40" or so across and would probably burn a hole through the bed of my truck on the way...

We could get into so much trouble with that. You should try to light cigarettes for terrio with it
 
My granddaughter is dying to try a bow drill. I have never done it but would love to be able to try with someone that could give pointers.
 
Count me in for some friction fire instruction.

Just looked at the weather forecast for Vonore, TN. Right now, they're saying lows in the sixties. Sounds pretty good for hammocking.
 
To SS point. The wifey looked up the extended weather forecast for next week. Supposed to be awesome. Low chance of rain. Mild temps.
 
My wife bailed, but my dad stepped in to take her spot. He'll be in my two man tent, I'll be in the hammock.
 
I'll be there Friday afternoon sometime.

My CS SF shovel project is complete, and it kicks ass ;) There'll be a knife or two to deliver as well. Plus at least two top-secret prototypes...
