Becker forum Knife?

As much as I love the BK-2, I think that — right now — we stand a far better chance of getting the Crewman. Just a feeling I have. Yes, the Crewman is scheduled to go back into production someday, but these would be a special release in the very near future. I'll pass on your ideas about the smaller knife though.

there's a very limited number of camillus crewman blanks left (they need grinding, heat treat, and much more), and if KaBar does us the solid for the Beckerhead thang, it's quite likely they will only be for Beckerheads. exclusive. not really for public sale, making new literature, bothering the sales reps. think: sprint run, and gone forever.

later, well, up to KaBar to make more by their standards, or not. those wouldn't be exclusive, or come dressed up Beckerhead way. don't know what the market is like. they can't seem to make BK2 Campanions fast enough, eh?

even more later, they might offer us another round of exclusive features on a knife, with Beckerhead serial numbers etched in, matched to your registered number.

using them or safe queening them up to the individual, but they'd be YOURS forever. selling them wouldn't confer any status to the person buying them per se. so, no incentive right?.

first though, KaBar gets to make the call. the BK2 is far far far more likely (and i think desirable) than a one-off-custom BK2 or BK9 or oddball chopper (won't happen, production nightmare)

BK-10 me. Camillus blanks means 01760-6C, so a less common steel these days. Won't be the Dan Maragni heat treatment, but I'll bet Ka-Bar can do something special with it.

Alright, I'm back from thinking (my daughter had a concert as school, LOL)

YES!!!! I that would be the ultimate Beckerhead forum knife. Not in production, meaning EXCLUSIVE, no one but us would have them. Safe queens or users, what does it matter, you'll get a BK10 with a with your BH# beat it up or keep it forever.

Guys, we are doing something uprecedented here. Never in the history of Becker knives, has this been done. Add some of the magic of ONLY LIMITED run on these guys, and you have the makings of owning a knife that can only be talked about by those that don't have them. Think Egress (BK8).

I'm gonna want 2, one to beat up on, because the BK10 is one tough, wilderness hombre. The one I had, was the only thing even coming close to the usefulness of the BK2. For those that don't like the thick grind (you know who you are, haters:D) This is perfect. Its lighter than any full size blade that Becker/Kabar makes, great design, the tip is PERFECT for making bow drill divots, throw in some micarta handles, and this baby will is ready to hit the woods, full bore

I also want one to go on my "DO NOT USE IN CASE ZOMBIES START DRIVING CARS shelf, right beside my Reinhardt Kukri, my Becker proto, and my first Becker BK7. Someday someone will write a book about these blades, seriously. Once in a lifetime chance and I'm gettin' in on it.

I'LL TAKE 2, PLEASE!! Beckerhead #007

I understand the position Bob, and what ever happens happens. I am only doing as you asked and throwing in my .02, and I'm sure I'll make the effort to get the BK10 special edition if I can, but because of how much I like the BK2...and would have no reason to carry two knives of such similar dimensions...it would be a low priority and it would spend it's life in a box in the closet and get brought out on occasion, that would seem a shame. A smaller knife however would be a compliment to the BK2 or the BK7 and could go where I went even if a big blade couldn't...restaurants, the movies, the local park, where ever...

You're right, Mist; that was what I was looking for. I really do understand your thoughts on a smaller knife, and maybe we can get one of those going later. I'm hoping we can do something special when the Tweeners come out (whenever that might be), but that's for the future.

Since someone who will remain nameless seems to have already spilled the beans on this, I will go ahead and say that there's a special reason for talking about the BK-10. See my post after Bladite's a few past this one.

Maybe someday someone will write a book on Beckers. Maybe someday.:D

I think the crewman is a great knife and cant wait for them to come out.
One with your own beckerhead number would be even better.
Micarta scales signed by Ethan, whats not to love.

Put in the light of the above post I get it now. I understand the motivation and see it as awesome in many ways for many people. But unless the timing just somehow works out perfect and I actually have the money to spare for something I'll never use (and I really don't see that happening in the current economy when I have so much over-head on other endeavors) I'll have to opt out and wait on a smaller knife if it ever happens. As I said earlier I really prefer the blade design and sheath design of the BK2. As described above I'd really never want to use it, and I just don't do safe queens and that thought itself runs counter to my thoughts on Becker knives. I'd personally rather show my students a well worn special Becker than show the occasional visitor an unscratched knife in a box. I have one unused TOPS knife now that is one of only ten to ever make it into the market which is all cool and everything but that was purely by accident and I just don't see me making a habit of it. My family members fuss at me now for beating on three and four hundred dollar knives...but that is what I got them for.

We'll change it up a little once the first thousand Beckerheads roll through. At this rate, that should be around 10-11 o'clock this evening.:D

Beckerheads are special, and not very easy to come by for folks that are just joining us, mid stride. I get emails from people that go" I want #232, thanks". I'll do a search and they have never been in the Becker forums before, they just want a number. I'll email them back with the reqs, and I get a reply "hell, I just wanted a number, not another hobby, keep it". So there ya go. No doubt there are 1000 Beckerheads out there, but they gotta put in the time just to get the number. That's so we don't wind up with people with Beckerhead numbers that don't even have a Becker (you know who you are, but will you tell on yourself?). #999 will be a very special Beckerhead indeeed.

that would be Ethan Becker, our designer what art in yonder window breaks

ya gots to read the FAQ :) there's a test... actually, yes, a test... perhaps aspiring Beckerheads have to answer a ... question ;)

yee hah

it's a leading 0 for goodness. if we hit 1,000 members, i'm sure we can add another leading 0 ;) but first the odometer needs to crank over 100 ;) we can do it! then ESEE people haven't hit 999 yet, and they're had a LONG headstart.

Okay, since the beans seem to have been spilled, somehow, here's what we're looking at.

KA-BAR has a certain, limited, number of BK-10 blanks left over from Camillus. Remember, folks, there are a limited number of blanks available here. Now, KA-BAR could do a number of things with these blanks — and probably charge a pretty penny for a special run — but instead they offered them to us as a special Beckerhead run. They offered this because they're behind the concept of the Beckerhead group — we didn't even ask.

So what would it be? Well, as has already been pointed out, this would be a special limited offering of a knife like no other has ever been, or, maybe, will ever be again. These are the last of the BK-10's with 01760-6C steel, and I think we can certainly trust KA-BAR to put one of Toooj's superb heat treats on it. This will be a tough, tough knife, people. Even if they just slapped on some Grivory scales and simply let it go at that, this would be a knife worth having.

But they won't. These should have micarta scales, hopefully signed by Ethan. Ethan doesn't know about this yet, but I somehow don't think he'd mind the extra work it takes him to sign them.:D

How about the finish? Well, we're looking at uncoated, possibly vibration finished, blades, or perhaps with a coating other than black. That's not a done deal yet, but they'll be nice.

Each knife would be individualized with the Beckerhead's number.

All in all, these will be truly unique, individualized, knives — the like of which has never been seen before, nor which will ever be seen again.

It's even possible that we can score some original Eagle Industries sheaths for these. There are those who think that the Eagle industries sheaths were, arguably, the best ever made, so it would be nice to get them.

Remember, this would be a limited run just for Beckerheads, and when they're gone, they're gone.

Still looking for feedback here, so let us know what you think.

Ok, since the beans are spilled anyway what are we looking at price-wise? I mean give me a ballpark here because in all honesty I was expecting a pretty penny to be charged for such a knife. It it will actually remain affordable that may just change my mind and I'll take it out and beat the crap out of it anyway :)

if I would have joined ESEE when I first came to the forums (as I intended to) I would have been in the high 500's low 600's.. they've really started gaining a lot of momentum in the last 6 months it seems..

whats a FAQ?? J/K......

I like it. I'm in. Why haven't you shipped yet? :D

As for not using it, I'm not sure I understand.

On the subject of a user...

When you say signed, are we talking on the blade or backside of the scales?

ETA: And how about an Ethan Becker hair under the micarta...you know...for future cloning experiments?

the blanks thing has been mentioned prior. no beans spilled per se. just clarifying that case... still and all, it's by no means a done deal until KaBar and Ethan and everyone agrees.

no point talking about prices or features guys. just bly sky wishful thinking and possibilities (except no custom choppers or such, that's not frugal)
