The idea is simple. Move your body. Get fitter.
It ain't a contest. It's about doing what you can do to get mobile.

Between the dates of June 1 and June 30, the challenge is to earn 50 Becker Points. Points can be earned in the following fashion:

1 mile (1.6 km) on foot = 1 Becker Point
4 miles (6.4 km) road cycling = 1 Becker Point
2 miles (3.2 km) mountain biking = 1 Becker Point
1 mile (1.6 km) swimming = 6 Becker Points

If you just do one thing, you'll need to hoof it 50 miles, or road bike 200 miles, or mountain bike 100 miles, or swim 8.3 miles. But you can combine items to build toward 50 Becker Points in any fashion you choose. Honor system in play.

The reward? You'll feel better, and you'll be participating with a group of supportive peers.

and the next...

1 mile walk and 3.2 mile ride with my weights this morning.

1.8 to start the month...

OK Lee, thanks for starting this one. Swam 2000m tonight. Last night for swimming until September, as the pool closes Sunday for annual maintenance :(.

7.5 on the 1st to start off.

While I'm not complaining, and I do realize that this is for fun and to have some motivation to exercise, I still think the points aren't balanced for the effort involved. i.e., tonight I earned 7.5 points in less than 40 minutes. Granted, I was a competitive swimmer (more than 30 years ago) but still...I don't know many people that can run 7½ miles in 40 minutes. Conversely, to earn those points on my bicycle, I'd have to ride 30 miles, which takes 1:45 riding at an average of 17 mph. I don't necessarily care, I guess, but when you do nothing but blow bubbles for 45 minutes, the mind tends to wander. And 2000m? that's 78 flip turns (if you do a 2x1000m). I'm dizzy now from all that math.

2 mile run this morning.
2 mile run this evening.

4 BP for August.

36 miles on the bike today. Strongest I've felt in a while....averaged out 18.4 mph.

9 + 7.7 = 16.5 BP.

Worked my part time job doing a back to school expo event in a huge expo hall, logged 7.5 miles that day
did 1.4 miles on treadmill and 4.7 miles on bike this morning...

7.5 + 1.4 + 1.1 = 10 ... 11.8 for the month

There's a cat 4 climb in Rhody? Glad you're finally back on land and two wheels. Single speed? Shoulda known you was a hipstah.....but it don't really count (the bike, not the workout) unless it's a fixie ;).

yeah, and I rode it. ;-)
actually, the steepest hill I know is right behind my house. Can't get up it on a SS.
And I ain't no hipstah 'cause I've got a freewheel, brakes, and don't mash in sneakers & skinny jeans. Heheh.

1.4 mile walk and 4.7 on bike 2.5 + 11.8 = 14.3 ttd

So....bibshorts and Speedplays? I just give in to my inner bike geek and kit up despite the complete lack of a cyclist's physique. Ah, well. Gotta roll with what you've got.

This is bordering on pornographic.
Merely spandex and cycling jersey, plus SPD pedals (Nashbar ATB model) and... (wait for it) Lake Cycling SANDLES. Yep. cool and breezy for my super-sized toes.

This is my current ride: http://velospace.org/node/3184

If you want a picture of me in spandex you'll have to PM. ;)

One week in, and I have a whopping 2 points from a run two days ago. On the plus and explanatory side, I started a new job as manager at my gym.

Current total BPs: 2
