Becker "Move Your Butt" Challenge - January 2014

I am looking forward to The DC and rokclmb mileage.

Me too LOL (and thank you :) ),but bear in mind that "The DC" stands for "The Disabled Cyclist",having mangled my spine 13 years ago, mine is hit and miss some times-tho I always seem to manage coming out of the New Year's gate fairly strong (I convince myself "just in case I have a flair-up and can't ride/walk/etc for 2 months later in the year" :p). A <400 mile month has only happened once in my 40.5 years,it's usually around >200 on a "good" average month :o

I walked 4.5 miles round trip this morning to check on an elderly lady friend of my Wife's,having dipped into nearly single digits last month (she has no phone),as the first 1/4 mile was solid untreated ice,and I'm likely to pedal to the PO today to buy a few stamps (about 3 miles one way),I'll add that if'n I does :p

Points: 39.85

I'll do what I can. I only made it half way for the Nov - Dec challenge, but it was 25 miles of walking I'd not done w/out it. Now I just gotta get over bronchitis before I can start.

Yeah, don't get a setback by pushing or starting before you're at least 95%,Brother,you gots plenty of time, take care of you first, challenge second :)

Drove to the PO,it was sleeting again,so no new points.

Finally on the board! I got in a 3.9 mile trail run (with some weenie-walking to rest) :p Ah well, at least my butt be finally moving.

In fact, a 'move-your-butt' challenge at winter's peak is challenging in more than one way for many of us. If we can get 50 points now, just think what we'll be able to do when the weather's favorable

1-3-14: ran 3.9 miles, 3.9 BPs

Current total points: 3.9 BPs

I hear you, muphasta - the last MYB challenge provided incentive to exercise more than I would've otherwise. Get better, and I look forward to seeing your goofy llama/alpaca/whatever it is posting your mileage :D

I believe it! Does the 'paca in your pic actually have that shaggy brown surfer hair? It looks like you photoshopped some goofball's mop onto a picture of an already goofy critter :D

One more bit o' butt-moving on Friday, a 0.8-mile walk with my dog.

Daily BPs: 0.8

Current Total BPs: 4.7

Got in 3.1 miles of running today. 3.1 BPs.

Going to hit the treadmill on Tuesday.

that is all natural. No photoshop, wig, nor any other manipulation.

Started the day off right today, went for a short mtn bike ride through the city park's local singletrack in the early morning's cold before church :D

Mileage: 8.387 miles
New points: 4.1935

Total Points: 44.0435

As the Boy is towards the end of seatpost extention on his 20" wheeled Scott mini-mtn bike* and the tax fairly's planning her trip for next month, ran by my trusted/trusty LBS last eve and did some pricing and size guestimates. Back in the Fall,he could ride a XS framed Giant 26" wheeled mtn bike, but it was a bit much for him, though a Giant XTC24 24" wheeled mtn bike was a perfect fit (while he could physically ride the 26"er,I didn't wanna plan to get him a bike that would be borderline big for him to handle on technical trail...)...I guess before he goes back to school Wednesday,I'll take him back out there and let him do some more test riding. Also,I'll be upgrading my cyclocross frame this year-nothing wrong with my Origin 8 700CX frame at all (and it only has around 6,000-9,000 miles on it,mostly road,so it still looks mostly new,not having any trail damage-tho it has railed singletrack),but I've been wishing there was an easy way to mount fenders on it for 2 years (for rail trail use when less than dry ;) ),an dtry as they might, the shop couldn't mount a rear one without major jury-rigging.......being more honest,I've always loved the look/words written about Surly's venerable Cross Check frame/fork,and they made me an offer on a shiney new '14 model,LOL :p (what I'd LOVE would be a Surly Troll,Ogre,Krampus,or a fat bike set up for bike camping deep in the woods, heeheehee, but the way we've been planning it,we're already spending on 2020's tax refund,so....:p).

*Well....he's been past that point, having had this one for 2 years (and over 3,000 miles he's pedal'd with me on it :D),I've installed a longer seatpost and longer stem to give him more room....but as 11-13 year old boys tend to do,he's growing past what the bike can fit him,LOL :p

Obviously not from a ride in the last few days, but here's my best riding bud I've ever had :D

The 700CX to be replaced:

The minivan/truck-bike/RV-bike: (Trek/Xtracycle)

AND the Mtn bike (On One Inbred 29"er SS):

The DC, all of your biking pictures make me want even more to get my mountain bike fixed and start pounding the roads and trails again!

Muphasta, that alpaca with natural hair is awesome.

Miles for Sunday, 1/5: 9.04 miles on a gym exercycle for 2.25 BPs and walked 2.6 miles; daily total 4.85

Current Total BPs: 9.55

At this rate I may not make 50 BP's this month. Getting outside is out of the question and treadmills are pretty boring though I did get in 30 minutes just now - cumulative for the month 8.35 BP's
