Becker Vs Busse?

Yep, you're right, after going back to try to correct my grievous oversite, I concede - 2 posts out of over 100 mention one each of the OP's questions. So sorry to have offended you.

Not to mention the main point of my post was to comment on the trade, but hey, that's OK- gotta take 'em where you find them, huh?

And here I'd heard what a friendly place y'all were running over here.

A very friendly site. Usually it seems, the vs. threads can get derailed. I love all of my Beckers, I'm not a fan boy, but enjoy BK&T more than most of my knives. I've only ever held a few Busse's, not my thing. There could be some out there that will work for me. I'll keep an open mind .

You need only to look at how relaxed Bladeite and I were when we were just screwing around last night to understand how really friendly a site this can be.

I don't know Bladeite from Adam. But he's a friend after that. You could be too. Just wash the sand out of your panties.

I do believe this thread has run its course. I'm sure there will be others.

To all me fellow becker lovers; if you have a busse, i'd love to hear how they perform in side by side comparison

Edge retention, ease of sharpening, general usability

I know that Beckers are a MUCH better value for a pure user, but I'm considering investing in a piece of INFI, and you guys seem to be pretty much on my page with what you demand from your knives

Again, this thread was doomed to fail from the start. It's too broad and potentially contentious. The original post pitches one designer/manufacturer and set of fans against another designer/maker and set of fans.
Beyond that matter, however, there's no way you can compare/contrast without knowing the knives in question and the task at hand. Edge retention is going to depend on what you're doing with the knife, and unless someone has run head-to-head trials with similar knives in similar usages, it's a hard comparison to make. I've chopped with Beckers and with Busses, but with very different edge geometries and with different woods in different conditions. So it's hard to say. "General usability" is such a vague term that it's almost useless. What use? Where? With which knife?

See what I mean?
It's no accident this one never really caught hold because it asked questions that just were not going to have a lot of purchase to begin with.
I can flail about with some vague, general answers, but beyond my statement that "they're both solid knife lines," I don't know how much better I can do.
I haven't "tested" anything in a quantifiable way, and I can only offer impressions. My impression is that you wouldn't be hurting with either brand of knife in a pinch.

Lastly, we need to keep the snark in the Snark chat thread or take it to W&C. The mods can handle it just fine when people get out of line.
