Becker Vs Busse?

Hmmmmm. How about a nuclear hand grenade? How would that work?

Not terribly well.

Back in the 80s, I had to evaluate a design. Actually, several designs.

Ridiculous ... but, sometimes, that's your government.

That's classic. In the first 10 seconds after you posted that, I thought of a few very good reasons why it could never be done, and yet the government probably spent millions looking into it anyway.

I remember reading some of those speculations & the unclassified parts of at least one proposal on the subject back then.

Shit, you can't throw a regular hand grenade far enough, in my opinion, I sure as hell don't want one that's gonna make a bigger pop.

Uh uh, not this guy. Keep your nuclear hand grenades, I'll keep the rest of me.

You realize that, even at this late date, I can neither confirm nor deny ... :)

Well, what about a neutron hand-grenade?

You know, save the tents while offing the tree rats.

New Tron is better than Old Tron. Neu Tron however is just a hipster who thinks the skinny pants Tron suit was his idea.

I'd consider buying a Busse just to resell it a couple months later for a sweet profit. There's an area on the Busse site(I think) that shows all the original prices and a NFBM was around $500+/- maybe $50 and yet they sell on here for double that! Ridiculous. I could see that money for a really high end custom bowie or fighter or maybe an 'artsy' folder, but not for a semi-custom piece. And then the wait time is out of this world for those prices. If I paid that much money-and I mean the original prices, not aftermarket-I'd expect it to be shipped within like 72 hours considering they list them as 'in stock'.

The most I am willing to jump into the world of Bussekin would be Swamp Rat. I can stomach the price of the RatManDu, and I own a Scrap Yard Scrapper 6. They make great knives, but I don't think I could justify shelling out the funds for a full on Busse. I like their designs, and if you have the money to burn, then maybe...

That being said, the micarta handle of my BK2 is still the best fitting handle I have. And at a 1/4", I have serious doubts that I will be breaking that thing anytime in my lifetime. If that's the case, the only point of spending more money is for the pure enjoyment of knives. You don't NEED to buy a Busse or anything more pricey, but if you get some enjoyment out of them and will get some USE out of them, then I say go for it.

My two most-used knives are my BK2 and my Scrapper 6. I can beat the crap out of them without a second thought, and they didn't hurt my wallet too badly.

I owned a Scrap Yard Dumpster Mutt DC and it was a beast! The steel is awesome and the handles are super comfortable just like the Beckers and the Scrap Yard stuff is prett cheap to buy new but can get pricey in the aftermarket. I think a DM costed a little over $100 new but was selling on Ebay for $180 and even $250, but een the 'current' models the 511 and 711 are only about $100 so its a great deal for the money. A lot of the Swamp Rat stuff looks exactly like the Busse line so if you buy Busse for looks you can save with SR, but if the MAIN thing making the Busses so bad ass is the INFI then I would go with the original. I personally don't like the looks of many of the busses. i love me some Battle Mistress and Steel Heart, and the Badger Attack is pretty sweet, and the Basic line is nice and simple, but models like the Argonne Assault is just ridiculous:rolleyes:

For the price I don't think anything out there can beat a becker BUT if you want more performance Busse/swamp rat/scrap yard is a great step up.

Alot of people on this forum are hard on busse's because of the cost but in terms of actual performance for a hard use knife that is going to be put through very tough tasks I don't think there is anything out there in the production world that will match the performance of a busse.

Id really like to see a Beckerhead passaround with a Busse Skinny ASH. I think people who are becker fans that have never tried a busse would be absolutely delighted at the performance and comfort. Its like a BK 5/7 on roids.

Personally I don't think smaller Busses are worth the price most of the time. INFI is a steel that really shines in the 6in + category. For smaller knives I like much more wear resistance. But for a bigger blade INFI is the best steel I have ever used.

For Beckerheads who think the 9 is a great chopper, just wait till you use a Mistress! Its a whole different world of performance but also a whole different world of price. But for me I like having 1 knife that is very high performance that I absolutley love vs. 5 knives that I like but don't perform as well.

Well folks, i decided to take the plunge. I made a trade with someone on the forum (not sayin who til i'm sure he doesn't mind)

I traded a handgun for a Busse Gladius, Busse Team Gemini Light Brigade, and 1k in busse credit.

I'll be getting a Busse AK47 and a smaller Busse with the credit.

That must have been one hec of a handgun!

Kind of disappointinting that in 5 pages of posts no one has answered the actual question asked.

Kinda funny that the question has been answered multiple times, but you're incapable of seeing it.
