First Trout of the year.....

SAM_2247.jpg

That's a good looking fish right there. How did it taste?

Finally!!!!!!!! After 3+ months my mother in law has gone home to SC today!!!! And yesterday my brother in law finally left after 1+ months of free loading and making messes for me to cleanup after he finished a 'project'. I don't know about you guys, but I really don't like my in laws. And 1-3 months of visiting at a time is just a little too much. Typed words just can't express the joy I'm feeling right now.

Congratulations on finally scaring them away. Free again! That means you have lots of time to compete in the May challenge! :D

I hear ya. Love my family, but also glad to see them go, lol. Never had them over for that long though.

Whenever I goto my house in Jackson, NH, I go fishing in the Wildcat River and the largest trout I can get out of there is like, 5 inches long... If I ever landed a trout like that in the river, I'd be scared shitless to go swimming in it!

The fish I'm holding is a baby compared to others in this river....
I LOVE IT

Well, I changed the straps holding the BK2 Box MKII to use side release buckles. Adds a bit of thickness, but seems to be a lot more sturdy and doesn't peel apart like the velcro kept doing. Pics later.

There she is with the buckles. Seems to work pretty well. And it doesn't make as much noise nor irritate me as much as the snaps I tried did, and it doesn't pull apart like the velcro did. Calling this one solved.

Nice one. Is the box sealed against water, by the way?

Nope. Not yet at least. I have the stuff to do it, but have to wait until I can have a bit of free time all together in a chunk to do it. Maybe this weekend.

That's impressive, I really like it. Good solution. It's nice to see that you're useful as well as decorative.

That looks great, And I've always trusted those buckles. With the way the bottom if your box is milled I would think one strap would be enough. Did you use 2 as an added measure, or was it nescessary?

You better get to the chat, our quota of surly senior citizens is way down this week. :D

I'm working on it, trust me. I'd rather be chatting with a bunch of punk kids and hairy malcontents than slinging soggy sandbags. Came home for a hot meal and a shower. Don't have a clue why I checked in here. Habit I guess. Get off my lawn.

Not sure if it was necessary, but I originally designed it to take the two straps, so I went with that. One would probably work, but I feel more comfortable with two, and it isn't that much extra effort.

That part right there cracked me up. Glad to see you are not just a drain on productive society.

I like it brother. Looks sweet.

Well I hope everyone had a fine Cinco de Mayo last night! I actually did a little bit of drinking, which for me is pretty rare. Two margaritas and a beer saw me through the evening. We went out to a Mexican restaurant with some friends and then ended up over at their house to see their new deck. It was very nice. Then we decided we needed fire. That was an interesting process. Some were pretty surprised that I could baton my pocket knife through logs the size I did. There was a knot in one, but the Pohl Force handled it with no issues. Surprised me for it being 440C. Guess ole Dietmer Pohl knows his heat treats. I also got to drive the missus's Jeep, and test out her new KC lights we mounted recently. They need to be adjusted a little, but those couple with the high beams and the fog lights, well, seeing your way isn't going to be a problem in that vehicle anymore. :D

Dont know what Cinco de Mayo is, but a happy one to you too! :D

Was it the big Pohl Force, the Alpha? If so, i wouldnt call it a pocket knife...that thing is gigantic!!! I imagine your friends scattered in all directions when you unfolded it? :D

LOL, yeah, it was the Alpha. Here in WV though most normal people grew up around knives, so they don't usually get weirded out. It does kinda stretch the limits of "pocket" knife though. :D
