Beckerhead firearms

Nice collection Noswad, call me old fashion ( or just old ) but I like a carry handle on my AR . The way Eugene intended.

To each his own :D

I'm the opposite. I love modern optics. I may be in the minority, but I'd also love to try out the CMMG Mk47. I plan on getting one when I can come up with enough spare cash.

I have never seen anyone actually carry an M16 by the carry handle in 4 years of ROTC, 20 years of active duty in the Army, and 10 years as a government contractor and Dept of the Army civilian employee. Of course now everyone carries an M4 which doesn't have a carry handle, just the flat top with optics...seems to be a mix a Aimpoints and ACOGs, with the occasional EOTech thrown in.

Carry it by the carry handle? Never.
That's what it's called not what it's used for.
I just like the looks and the open sights are good fully adjustable ones.
Using open sights is a lost art.
As it was said, to each his own. Shoot what you want, just shoot.:)

I am actually working on a set of mando armor now. I am nearly finished.

Pics when you're done? Please?

Noswad, the main draw for me on the MK47 is the compatibility with AK mags. It's an AR platform that takes AK mags, which are far cheaper and more reliable than 7.62x39 AR mags. If you're out and about in a survival situation, AK mags will be relatively easy to find, and they'll work in the MK47. 7.62x39 AR mags will be impossible to find. You're stuck with what you've got.

I'm just gonna leave this here

And so I am not completely off topic.

My Mississippi

And my Whistle Pig rifle. (My sister felt the need to steal it and go for a photo shoot)

True, it just never appealed to me. I can understand why you like it though.

Fer, that helmet is sweet!

Hey Crimson, this is way off topic, but could you email me a link to that knife place that you like that has the 4's for cheap please? You mentioned it a few pages back in the Snark. Should be able to email me by clicking on my username.

Reenact? That's very cool. Thanks for sharing that.

Mrs. C.

I agree! Very cool photo!

Sick helmet, Ferahgo. And I didn't realize there are a lot of extended universe Star Wars fans out there.

I like the concept of the MK47. I wish it were a side charger, the lack of a LRBHO and bolt release means that an empty chamber means an awkward initial charge. I'd love to see the guys from AK Operator's Union send it through their gauntlet of tests.

Got to shoot the 50 cal. That thing was awesome. The guy who owned it gave my dad and I a shell from it and we found an almost totally intact bullet out near the target.

This popped up from the AK Operator's Union FB page:

Another hybrid in the works, by a company called Creative Arms LLC. Unlike the CMMG mutant, it is piston driven. Also weighs in around 8 lbs.

Also, obligatory Mandalorian pic.

So a buddy at work rekindled my interest in old military rifles (not that it ever really went away) so I went shopping today. Found a Spanish FR7, a Lee Enfield no.4 MKI, and a Turkish (I think) Mauser.

The FR7 is a rifle I just learned about this week so I was pretty stoked to find one. Basically the FR7/FR8 rifles are Spanish Mausers converted to 7.62 NATO and with a few updates. I almost bought a Lee Enfield "Jungle Carbine" but one of the ears on the front sight had been crushed and I wasn't sure if that could be replaced. Got all three at the same shop that specializes in surplus/collectible guns.

Nice finds! What condition are they in?
