Actually have been wanting to build a .458 lately
Really the only thing holding it up would be learning how to re-load first

nah

reloading comes after you realize you like shooting it, and it's cutting into your knife money ;)

build it now!

but usually it's put ammo into the magazine and pew pew pew - reloading is easy!

iffn you're looking at knives and guns (and worse!) at work, you can look at ponies :D

build an AR, but with a weird caliber.

5.7

6.8

338

.50? :D

What about 300BLK (AAC Blackout)? Are you a hater?

And pistol caliber...9mm with Colt SMG stick magazines...I have all the parts for this one, just need to get it done...

.458 is appealing as well. My hog hunting buddy has one made by Rock River and it really gets the pig's attention when it gets hit.

Some company makes 9mm AR's and parts that take glock mags. If I'm going to have a carbine in a pistol caliber I want it to take the same mags as my pistol.

A relative of yours here in Texas?

And on topic... I wonder if the Lone Wolf G9 lower would work with the PSA 9mm upper that I already have? Would be good to have two 9 mm lowers, one for the Colt SMG mags and the other for the Glock mags....

Edit: Looks like a bolt modification may be required....bummer.

What about 25/45 Sharps ?

Good question. Hard to say since the Colt mag 9mm AR is the standard and the LWD is a deviation from that. I would not be surprised if the bolt face were different to feed from the Glock mags but I would hope everything else would work.

That does sound intriguing, but I think I should not add another caliber...

In other news, I just posted this on the Beckerhead Scavenger Hunt thread, but suppose it could go here as well.

M1A loaded with a Springfield cheek rest, Bassett mount (with Leupold mount and rings on top of that, and a Pride Fowler 3-12X scope.

Was drooling over the Zastava M92 PAP AK47 pistol, then I thought about the stripped lower still in bubble wrap from 4 years ago I haven't built yet. Build an AR15 pistol or buy an AK47 pistol? Decisions, decisions.

Beretta 96 Brigadier Centurion Elite .40
S&W Bodyguard .380
Ruger MKII .22LR
Ruger old-style 10-22
1937 Izshevsk 91/30 Mosin Nagant
My wife's left and right biceps.

Just ordered an ALG Defense AKT fire control group and a krebs MK VI enhanced safety for my AK pictured above and a couple other misc things. The only thing left for it now is an optic and mount, a mount for the Streamlight I have kicking around, and a sling. Plus more ammo and some magazine rebuild kits. Once I get it sorted out I'll try to either wrap up my AR and my .308 Saiga. Maybe then I'll revisit the question of which pistol to get. Or maybe I'll finish one of my other 20 or so gun projects.

Moosecaca, how do you like the S&W bodyguard ? I have been looking pretty hard at that for a .380, and trying to decide between .380 or nine mil. But there is a TON of decent sub compact .380s, and 9s to choose from. Its tough

Hoss have you looked at 25/45 at all ? Its suppoed to be similar to .300 black out but better for non surpressed applications. Hits harder than standard 5.56 .223 but still fits in the same mags and such. My understanding is that its a very nice update to any Ar style rifle. I need to get some range time with one. Only bad thing is its new ish, so there isnt the insane proliferation of ammunition that there is for .223 5.56, or 7.62 .308

I know you were not asking me but between the .380 and 9mm I would go with the 9mm. Some very nice and small 9 mm pistols are being made now. The ammo is more powerful and cheaper so you can shoot it more. The .380 is easier to find now then it was but still not as common as 9mm.
My Kahr CW9 is great. The PM9 is smaller. The S&W , Ruger, Springfield. All look good also.
Just my .02 cents

I usually carry a .380 Bodyguard and like it well enough. It conceals well in a pocket which works well here in Texas when I'm wearing shorts much of the time on weekends, and I can't carry at work (Federal property). I got my wife a Ruger LC9 to replace her much larger S&W Sigma SW9VE that a friend had given her before we were married. She didn't like it, so I wound up getting her a S&W 9mm Shield. We both love the Shield. I'm a part time (kitchen table) FFL, and have sold more 9mm and .40 Shields than any other handgun except possibly the Springfield XD.

GSO what about mag release hang up n the Shield ? had any issues ?
What dont you guys like about the Ruger?
What do you think about the Sig, Walther, and Berettas in the same size range ?
