Beautiful! Please pm me if the time ever comes, I’d love to own a daizee daizee in my collection. Same thing goes for you hawkhead hawkhead . You guys keep crushing it!

:pFirst test blade in 15N20 with a quick vinegar etch to check for a hardening line/hamon - yup! Other side is belt finished bright to see how food acids affect this steel. Some pretty white oak on the handle is overshadowed by the ironwood and in-your-face G10 bolster scrap from another project.

To all fellow Beckerheads and knife enthusiasts, yesterday I removed the 1.5hp motor from my Wilmont LB1000. This is not a bad little grinder. I have modified it during the last 5 years with a DD adjustable tool rest, Wilmont aluminum wheels and now a 1.5hp 3ph motor and KB27d vfd which I installed last night. I believe I could have cut the learning curve in half had I bought the vfd motor combo from the beginning. I ground a 112 mm x 22mm rhomboid puukko. I profile then grind puukko blades vertically. With the new setup I can cut the speed down and use a lighter touch. For me getting the rhomboid shape is much easier.
This blade was ground with an 80 grit belt, then a 180 gator belt some hand sanding and oiled then HT.

I can’t wait to see what you do with the two smaller blanks at the bottom. :)

I posted this 5.5" x 1" dagger blade in post 2377 when it was near finish ground prior to HT. At that time I ground the blade vertically and it seemed easier than grinding horizontally. For me that is true to a certain point. Then it dawned on me that I now have variable speed and maybe I should rethink my procedure. So horizontal grinding at speeds I can control my work was the answer. Since I am not in a rush, I can take the time to learn at a slower pace. The steel is 1084 from Aldo. Grinding of the edge is almost complete. When it is the thickness of a dime, out it goes to HT.
