Can anyone recommend a decent, smallish flashlight for daily carry? Not wanting to spend tons here. I carry a multi-mode mag-lite now. I like it okay, but was wanting something a bit shorter.

At GPKnives they started carrying Fenix, FourSeven, and Surefire.

I'm gonna be getting a FourSeven before the gathering.

I've been carrying the Fenix E01 Derek mentioned for quite a while now - it's tough, reliable, and surprisingly bright for it's size. This is the one I'd like to get though... ~$55 at the river store and $58 at REI if you have one near

Dubz, I'd def recommend running to Scheels when you get a chance. While the amount of crowds there would be unnerving, the benefit of being able to SEE the difference would be best. Especially with your bear claws seeing which one fits you best.

I was gonna suggest the microstream or the fenix ld01. I work at night, so I use the heck out of mine and they work great. If you want double I would still check out fenix, they make some good stuff.

I think I said that I sold my M&P40 the other day. I went and cashed the check for it today and when to my local sporting goods store to see what they had in 45acp. All they had was a new Remington 1911 and a used Para 1911. I did check out an xdm 9mm that felt wonderful in my hand, but I didn't want to pay for the xdm price. I was really wanting to find an xd 45 with the 5 inch barrel, but he didn't have one. He said he could order one, but I really kinda want to shoot one before I commit to him ordering one for me. I live in a small town and know most of the people in our gun club, so I asked if he knew if any of them owned an xd that I could get ahold of and see if they would let me shoot theirs a few times. He then offered me his personal xd 45 for the weekend and told me to come pick it up tomorrow. Sometimes I really like living in a small town. :D

I may do that. Scheels is just about a 20 minute drive from home. I don't recall seeing a huge selection there though, and I have looked at them there before, although it was some time ago now. Like I said, I like my mag-lite okay, but I hate when it gets caught like when sitting down, and it gets caught on the arm of the chair, etc.

I have been hoping to hear from him on here. Still waiting on a package from him that was supposed to be on its way almost 7 weeks ago.

That sucks wildcat. I hear a few people are waiting on packages from him. I under stand life gets in the way sometimes but he could atleast send there stuff back with an apology letter or something.

I still want to think that noone is gonna get burned. It sure would be nice to hear from him to bring the confidence level up a bit. Last I heard from him everything was pretty much ready to ship.

Is Clayton still AWOL? No luck on my side getting in touch anymore...

I spoke with him last week via text. Assured me everything was cool just taken care of some nessesary things. Don't know anymore than that. Last I heard, he was planning on being in attendence at the gathering but I don't know if that has changed.

Jeez how was I supposed to know butter knives are supposed to be dull? Ungrateful woman.

Been waiting 2months for something to show up so I can do a chop off I have been curious about. Still waiting. Any tips on sharpening the machax by hand? I have diamond stones but they won't get into the recurve. May need to invest in one of the smaller lansky or similar systems for it I guess.

I know I harp on it a lot, but I can't recommend the Work Sharp enough, especially for the Machax and other recurves. Convexing the Machax is a breeze, and you can touch up the edge in seconds. Mine will cut serpents in paper all along the edge, yet I can chop wood with it and the edge hasn't ever chipped or rolled so far.

My budding knife collection grew by one today..sorta. You'se guys remember this?

I took possesion of it..the very 1st one, ever. And it's a cool little tool. I hadn't ever owned a blade besides off the shelf stuff and now I have 1 Becker, 2 of Todd's and am seriously in the hunt for a BK9. Things are getting interesting around here...

You lucky dog. That's a fine 'hawk you got there.

I second this.... very pleased with the edges the ws throws on my wood-banging blades. Could you post a pic or your machax edge wd? I'd be interested in seeing how far up you're running the bevel. Sounds like you're doing it right.... thanks!

Here you go, Axes.
