Beckers seem to be drying up...

Got a BK-2 and a BK-10 from Wood Tech in the mail today. Perfect knives all around.

Theres one bk9hh left on ebay i bought the other 4. Figured I would be set for life since I havent found as good of a chopper for the price and I doubt there ever gonna be any made again.

Guyon, you are going to have to enter a 12-step program if you keep this up. Don't make us do an intervention.

Only because we care. :D

I think you missed the post where I scored a BK-5.

Now if I could just find a BK-4 Machax...

You know? I saw a Brute that had a grey finish and a slightly different handle material for sale at Knob Creek. I was assuming it was from the Effingham period. It looked unused but obviously carried around to a lot of shows.

He wanted $65. If I had known you had such a sickness, I would have bought it for you. :p

That's just perverse. :D

I got whole-set-itis. All I lack at this point is the BK-4. I'm only going for the standard line, so the desert colors, HH knives, or Extreme aren't factors right now.

Mania continues. Grabbed another BK-7 for my wife at Grand Prairie.

Hmmm... Botach had the BK4 listed. I bought one a few months ago from their eBay store Tactical Guerilla. Haven't been back to eBay for a long time, so I don't know if they still have them. Prices were very reasonable.

Botach really ticked me off with regard to a BK-4. They told me they had one. I placed the order and waited. Finally got through to someone at the store, only to find out that they did not have the BK-4 in stock.

I'd always heard bad things about their customer service, but I'd never had a problem, mainly because I always checked inventory before I ordered. That system seemed to work with numerous orders in the past. However, my experience this time was horrible.

Here's the email I sent Botach last night:

Dear Botach,

You've lost my business for good. Three reasons.

(1) I went to the time and trouble to verify your inventory because I
wanted my order to ship promptly. Two separate emails from you (see
below) told me that you had the Becker BK-4, 7, 9, and 10 in stock. Both
emails were apparently false.

(2) I have had difficulty getting anyone via phone. Last week, I left a
message for a call-back. My call was not returned.

(3) I asked in my order (xxxxxx) to be notified immediately if any knives
were out of stock. I was not notified. I had to call in to verify order
status.

Tonight, after calls on four separate weekdays, I finally got a human
being on the phone instead of a message. Lisa informed me that you only
have the Becker BK 2, 3 and 10 in stock. Those model numbers are almost
entirely different than the indications I got last week via email.

That's it. Three strikes and you're out. Botach will get no more of my
money.

Please be sure that order xxxxxx is cancelled as Lisa indicated it would be.

Sincerely,

Long story short... no BK-4's at Botach. I have one line on a BK-4 right now. If it doesn't work out, I'll have to wait on Bladebay.

Got to say i really hope Becker makes a restart after the Camillus cooperation. I hope they find a good production partner and keep the current line-up or even make more models.

I’m now looking for a other 7inch knife so i can use that and save my BK-7 workhorse. Butt on the other hand: isn’t a Becker made for hard use and if you manage to finely break it in half, you just by a new/other one! Although my second chose is a other BK7 my third chose is a RAT-7 or a two/three times as expansive SRKW.

Well, I did find a Camillus Machax. Funny how different combinations of terms on Google can yield new results. Found it at a fair price at a shooting range in North Carolina!!! Between the BK-4 today and the BK-5 last week, North Carolina has been good to me.

That completes the basic set in carbon steel. I know there are variations (sharpened swedges, serrations, desert colors), but the basic, black Beckers are the ones I like.

Guyon (and this thread) sold me.

Just scored a Bk-9HH (micarta handle) from Chestnut Ridge. Just in case, you know.

I ordered one this morning. That makes three BK-9's for me. I think I'll make it, but I sure hope they're produced again.

Received my BK1 today. $109.

Not the best price, but not bad, either. Now to find the micarta handles for it, and find someone to make me a custom sheath, because the factory one sucks.

Zaphod, email me, and I can give you a couple of sources on both accounts.
