Hey Dubz what is your reason for getting rid of the 4? Just like your 9 better? I am surprised no one has made an offer. Seems like a good deal to me.
Yes, like the 9 better. I don't see what the 4 can do that the 9 can't. I have had a few offers. If I don't get it traded off soon, I'm just going to sell it. I'm waiting to hear back from someone first.

Glad ya like it Trade....Was gonna warn ya about the sheath mouth.....but I figgered you were a Big Boy and wouldn't cut your fingers off. Recurves can get tricky to sheath.

It's perfect. You were right about the color too. The chocolate brown looks good. Much better in person than in the pictures.

hmmmm. I can see where the new convex line is. 10 times better ya say? I do like the thing, It's prolly for the best he don't sell the 12'' model anymore.....but the again the 14'' one may be even better. *sigh*

I've been trying like hell to re-learn grinding knives by going edge down like Mr. Fisk. Haven't put just a "killer" edge on one yet. I can't see the burr as well and just don't have the same touch. I give up. I went back to the way I learned, (Mike Stewart method) edge up, and am happy again. I put a hair popping convex on the Fiddleback in five minutes. Put a convex on the Condor Garuda and it's scary too. Old dogs/new tricks and all that. :D

I need to start practicing more on sharpening. I was able to get my camp cleaver to shave tonight, after working it a bit on a stone, and homemade strop.

I want to learn how to sharpen on a belt sander, I am gettin decent with a stone, I can't get ''hair-whittling'' edges, but I can get an edge that will shave arm hair. Edges/sharpening is my weakest skill in the knife realm. And it's the most important skill LOL

New rig to drive for the next few weeks.

Boss got another route with USPS to replace the one they shut down. I told him it wasn't something I wanted to do permanently, but I would help him for a few weeks until he hires someone. Basically at 8pm I'd be going to the post office and loading up, driving 90 miles and then sitting for 5ish hours, then drive back. Easy drive for sure, but I think it would drive me bonkers having to sit for five hours.

Learning to sharpen sucks. Eventually you just start getting decent edges and keep getting better and better. If you guys are shaving arm hair, I would say stick with what you are doing cuz most people can't even get them that sharp.

Get a harbor freight 1x30 and dive in. Start with some old hickos or kitchen knives. You'll be a pro in no time.

When regrinding or reprofiling I start with 80 grit. Then 120, 220 and so on to where I want to get. Where people run into trouble with overheating is trying to take off too much metal with the finer grits. Don't be afraid to start with a coarse grit to get your profile. For sharpening I use 220 (so does Kabar). Leaves a toothy edge that cuts like crazy. Touch it up with an India stone and finally a strop with black compound.

With a little shaping and filing (and tung oil), the Tram handles can really shine.

A Work Sharp makes it easy to learn the belt sanders. After you get good with one of those, a normal sized belt sander is an easy transition to make.

I think I'm gonna throw some mycarta on the Tram Biscuit...I dunno, I may just work on the factory scales first and see how it goes.

WorkSharp is something I have looked at, I dunno though.

Man, where can I get that job? I used to dream of five-hour stops when I was over the road. I'm a voracious reader, and any excuse to stick my nose in a book was a valid one. I'm so glad I just stick to local driving these days. Long months of solo driving, insane hours, and over-caffeination made me weird and angry all the freakin' time. Totally changed my personality. When I quit, it was like I came back from the dead, or so my family and friends tell me. I miss the money, but not the life.
