Just got a can of Ballistol with a small order of knife-making supplies.
Anybody have experience using the stuff for knife maintenance?

Not really. I only put it on chili dogs.

I love the endorphin rush of finally getting a new knife..it's even mo bettah when it's a custom! I have been fondling and using this thang all afternoon.

Tomato, Zuchinni and French's makes a AWESOME rainbow/oil slick patina on Aldo's 1085 BTW.... :D

*lol*

you don't waste any time!
If you get antsy for the brushed finish back, try flitz. Or a soft scotch-bright from ricasso to tip (not rubby-rubby).

I kinda dig the patina, I was slicing up some veggies as part of the edge test...and the patina started..so I blotted it lightly with French's on a paper towel and left it for ~20 minutes. That shiny finish of yours is still there, just has a cool oil slick over it....of course pics dont really capture a patina....but it looks dang nice.

Oh I have pics....I took prolly 75 today LOL, I will have to wait to get to better internet to upload them. I will have a thread when I do, I will have one for the Hunt knife I got this week too.

I was wondering what the best place to post the reviews are? General? Custom? Or since they are both Beckerhead 'Makers can I post it here? ;)

I have a couple more reviews to get done too.

Here ya go Ogre, since you couldn't see any where you were. Was at the Granite City Park tonight. THEY say it is the greatest in the country. I say it was bull! The best I ever saw was 2002 in Manhattan. THAT was one hell of a display!

Here are the ones I took with my phone tonight:

Thanks Cbear. Im honestly kinda bummed about no fireworks, I know it's a small thing, and the world has bigger problems. But I'm a big overgrown kid....and I missed my Boom-Boom Pretty Colors Show dangitt!

Oh well, I did some honest work this morning, got a great knife, ate good food, spent time with people I love....so a lack of fireworks didn't ''ruin'' my Fourth!

Today was a seriously good day. Late lunch with my parents and siblings and their spouses, stuffed myself with awesome summer food. Then off to my buddies uncles house to hang with his family(pretty much my second family) where I ate more free food and then shot fireworks for 3 hours, and not just bottle rockets since they actually get the good ones :D

I forgot my good camera in the car otherwise I'd have better pics for ya. I knew you were saying that you couldn't set any off. That sucks. As I was saying New York ALWAYS has the best show. This one "wasn't bad" but it wasn't that great. The music was horrible and it wasn't synchronized in ANY way what so ever! I was rather disappointed.

Did see THIS kid though.

Amurkia! FK YA!

A couple of years ago, I was in San Diego for the Fourth.....if you get in the right spot you can watch at least 9 different shows all at once. Plus a couple shows over in Mexico (TJ). I dunno why THEY were shooting off fireworks for the Fourth...but it was neat to watch shows from two different countries at the same time.

I have always heard the NYC show is the best, I have it on my bucket list.

You misunderstood. They were shooting *AT* us.

The NYC show isn't bad.
Helps to know someone with an apartment on a high floor and a view of the river. (they launch from barges on the river)
Generally I try to be outta the City on holidays.

Looks like the Custom & Handmade subforum is the right place to post on your new toys, Thrill'y. I never look in there, but should pay more attention.

That's rough man. If you need someone to talk to gimme a call. You can PM me for my number.

Super cool, I appreciate it. PM inbound.

Do you have any hobbies? For me when I get like that I either drive or cook. For some reason those two let me relax a LOT.

Shit, y'know, being a Beckerhead was a fun hobby. I think I'm going to get back to that. I'll be on BFC less, have to be, but I don't think disappearing helped much.

cool room, earplugs, and blinders are about all i can manage.

This would be good, although a little tricky to work in AZ where my house is always too hot and my kids too noisy :D

Thanks for the comments. I'll get this shit handled.
