Bedside Manners

universible

I train with firearms a lot.

As to how well this stuff works, I had one of the Hotel/Maid encounters as well. The little hinged bar kept her from getting the door open, but she was very surprised to see two guys in tighty-whities racking and pointing in two ARs at the eyeball she was able to peak through the opening.

Putting on the pants would only be an issue if I was to go on the move rather then playing defender.

Speaking of bedside stuff, what do you guys prefer for ammo? I've seen Cor-bon, Glaser, and Hydra Shok listed so far. I have some pre-ban Black Talon in my Beretta.

As I said in my post, Black Talon 40 cal. I don't believe there is any pre or post ban Black Talon. Winchester voluntarily took the stuff off the market, changed the name and maybe the petal design and kept selling it!- As for training, other than structured combat range time with a NRA certified trainer, anytime I hear a suspicious noise, I have a full routine, I go thru with firearm and light, searching the interior and exterior if needed. If exterior noises are heard and identifed as unknown, its 911 time. Sheriff would prefer it that way, rather than picking up the bodies and so would I! - Dick

I keep a sureFire 9P, Buck Nighthawk, 2 15 rd. mags and 5 or six ultra-high-intensity cyalume sticks in an old gun fanny pack next to the bed, along with Peltor active hearing protection. This compliments my Beretta 92FS Brigadier with Trijicons, and 18 rounds in gun. Also ready to go is an AK47 clone, a Mossberg 12 ga., and a 5" 629 Classic with Cor-Bon 165 gr. .44 Spls.

See2:
My ammo is custom loaded by an outfit called Mullins Ammunition in Clintwood, VA. It consists of a 115 gr. Remington JHP loaded in nickel cases and they average 1365 fps from my 92FS. The powder is VhitaVouri[sp?] and there is just a little blue-orange flash. I have shot 2" groups offhand at 25 yds with this load.

For ammo I use Speer Gold Dot 124 +P 9mm in all my 9mms and Hornady 55gr TAP in my .223s.

We used to use the Black Talon ammo in our nines, but with the 147gr projectile, we had some over penetration issue. Worked pretty well other then that.

Don't get too excited, it's just a cell-phone. Nothing with a blade on it, then again, if they ever put a blade on to one, you can bet someone here will have it first ! :D

LOL dd167......what makes you think i would get excited if it had a blade on it?? (okay so i would ...... LMAO....i know im sick )
i yeah seen the phones!! they are classed as old and outdated here....LOL
The phones we have here have Mp3 players on them and soon FM radio's....LOL

I usually have my Glock 19 (loaded with 147 gr. Winchester Ranger SXT, which is the 'new' Black Talon round), a Streamlight Scorpion, can of pepper spray, with many sharp objects close by...those may or may not include my CQC6, Commander, I&I Tanto, Mad Dog ATAK2, Cold Steel Master Tanto, Patton Merlin, or Parrish Combat Survivor. :D I've also got my stainless Mini 14 in the closet if the 'merde' hits the proverbial fan...

You guys are giving your location away.
Sig 228 with UITC Night Stalker (now Wilson Tech.)Dual laser, light set up 670 red laser/870 infrared laser, selectable though the grip. The light set up is progamable though the grip also. (white lite/IR) ITT 5001's, Hirtenberger +P+ 100gr. pointed ammo running at 1500fps, (blows right though a vest) followed by 147gr +P hollow points.
Also close at hand right now (changes daily depending on what I just bought) a Randall 14, a 16, and an 18.
For back up, or heavy knock down power, a 16" ported Marlin Guide gun in 45-70 with a 320gr. custom load running at 1900fps. It won't go though a vest, but what ever is in the vest is creamed instantly.
A S&W 640 back up in the closet, +P's, extra 226 mags every where though out the house for reloads. and a S&W #29, 3" in the kitchen.
So.....At my house you know you are in deep DO...DO....
When the lights go out.......

PS. E.G., I just got a Motorola V60t phone that has FM sterio built in, very cool.......

Universable

I train a lot with my firearms and tools also. I like to train tactics too. Tactics doesn't always involve the use of firearms or tools it just betters your chances at surviving an encounter.

I look at training as vacation.... I'm weird. Not because of that, I'm just weird :D

See2 I don't change the ammo in my pistol just because it's a house gun. It's the same ammo I use when carrying. It's usually federal hydra shoks in the 45s and the 40s. Hollowpoints are good but they don't expand 100% of the time. So to prepare for the worst expect them not to mushroom and cause that temporary cavity that they say they do and stop the bad guy in his tracks. They usually don't stop them in their tracks (They usually keep on doing what they were doing or start running). Just find a hollowpoint that you're accurate with and stick with that. So prefrencewise with me would be Federal Hydrashok but anything that's reliable in my pistol and I can shoot accurately is good with me.

And remember boys and girls ANYONE that DESERVES shot DESERVES SHOT A LOT!

To borrow a line from a friend:

"We shoot to stop the threat . . . . if he happens to die, he's just Genetically Inferior."

To quote ANOTHER friend:

"How'd the guy die?"

"Accident."

"Really?"

"Yeah. He fell on a knife 4 times."

"Gotta hate it when that happens."

:D
