I received my first Chris Reeve knife today, the Umnumzaan, and I'm absolutely shocked. The quality is unreal. It is perfect, and somewhat of a wierd feeling, as I'm a perfectionist, and can find a flaw in almost any man made good. Quality control at Chris Reeve Knives is doing their job that's for sure.

This may sound corny, hokey, or what you will, but this is the first thing I've ever purchased in life that makes me feel like a rich man, and let me tell you I'm far from it. It almost feels too classy, too perfect, just a feel that I've never felt before in something I've bought.

Kudos to the team at Chris Reeve Knives, you've made me a happy guy, and hopefully my son as well... 40 years from now.

Congratulations! Love my Umnumzaan! Fantastic all around knife. Just added a Millit pocket clip that gave it a little more flair.

It's my first knife with a lanyard. I may order another standoff to replace the lanyard, to give it a beefy look, but I may not. I'm going to give the lanyard a shot for 2 weeks before I do anything.

I had some 21s in different configurations and a 25 and really liked them all ... then for Christmas my father wanted to give my nephew something special for starting his business so we picked out a CRK/WC Inkosi ... and I loved that so I got one for myself ...

well all the time I always loved they design and look of the Umnumzaan but had never pulled the trigger ... when I finally did ... it was like I kicked myself for waiting so long it took up daily residence in my pocket ... and there is already a second one in the CRK collection ...

so I can relate to exactly how you felt

The Zaan was my first CRK as well...and probably remains my favorite.

Glad you’re enjoying it!

Congrats on finding a good knife for your needs! I had a zaan for a while, but it never really felt like it was one that I could use, so out it went.
Sooner or later, I might go back to a crk, but not right now.

Congratulations on your first CRK !!! For me, if I enjoy using a knife and it brings a smile to my face it’s the perfect knife for me. A CRK definitely fits in that category. Enjoy using your Umnumzaan :) and give it some personality so you can have a story to tell with each ding/mark when your son inherits it.

I'm ashamed to say I've never had a Chris reeve knife. Never even handled one. Which is crazy considering how many knives I've gone through. I wish I could check one out in person, I live in boonies though.

Great story - I can relate to what you are saying, there are a couple purchases in my life that have made me feel that way. It's rare to get something and feel like you actually got every cent you paid for.
