Believe the hype.

Stop complaining about the US prices :D (Zaan here ~550$ / Large Inkosi with Micarta Inlays ~725$)
Are they worth that much? I would enjoy experiencing one but around 600$ ehhh?

Exactly. Here is a guy who is more than thrilled with his first CRK purchase and some feel the need to pop this guys balloon. . . go figure.
If the poster had opened this thread in the CRK forum he probably would have gotten a better response.

Enjoy your new CRK Bradytx. You posted in the general knife forum like I did when I first got my small sebenza last month. I was not aware that there is an actual Chris Reeve forum "under manufacturers". Sure they are expensive, so is a BMW over a Hyundai. But for me its like buying a $9.99 tie at the past season rack at Marshalls or a $50 tie at Macy's . . . You just feel better all day in your $50 tie! Now when you carry around your new CRK you will know that you are now one of the "chosen ones".

Anyone of them is a joy to own from what I read in the forums. My 2nd one, a 21 arrives tomorrow! The members in the Chris Reeve forum understand where your excitement is coming from more than the general discussion forum will.

Do another post in the CRK forum (change your post around a little so its not duplicate posting) here you are sure to get a much warmer welcome:
https://www.bladeforums.com/forums/chris-reeve-knives.703/

And welcome to the club!

If you find yourself playing with your new knife "in bed" a lot because you don't want to let go of it . . . this is quite normal :D
I did in no way aim at popping this guys balloon. CRKs are good knives. I in fact love the design from an aesthetic perspective (ergos not so much). All I wanted to say that they're not that mystical thing they're often made out to be. Not as an act of agression against the OP but as information for people researching bladeforums that think about buying an CRK. Imagine saving up to buy an CRK and reading everywhere "oh they're the bestest thing there is" and then you finally buy it and are simply disappointed. I know I would have been.

So @OP: Enjoy your knife, by all means, they're well manufactured, quality pieces. I did in no way want to talk your purchase down.

Based on this and other questions about the worth of these knives, maybe not to a new buyer but the secondary market says no. You'll take a loss but it's pretty reasonable. And there's always a market for used CRK's.

I think the real question is: Who titles a post "Believe the hype" and then gushes about their opinion of a given brand and expects replies to all be glowing agreements?

What is this, the Spyderco forum? We can have rational discussion of our opinions on this post, nobody is getting hurt by it.

I do believe. Now to cut something.

Neither the 21 nor the Umnum does it for me 100%. But this thing sure does. I am so happy I took a chance with it.

I have already put it to work and it has been fantastic. Then took it apart to lube and assemble to my liking. Over all its perfect. The fit and finish is rediiiiiculous.

The only thing I can say is I will give the factory sharpening an A- or a 91. The grind is symmetrical which is the most important part. But only average sharpness for out of box.

Average meaning; will slice paper and newsprin although showing paper fibers along the way. Not sharp enough to push-cut news print with the entire blade.

Besides that, holy guacamole.

Bradytx , you must be loving that knife. When I get to my graveyard tomm. I look forward to comparing knives with my co-worker that carries the Umnum.

I've never owned or even handled one. They just don't appeal to me at all.

I'd like to handle one someday but I don't think that will change my mind.

I had one briefly. Maybe because my expectation was too high, maybe because it got a sticky lock, maybe because its smoothness was no better than my average ZT and Spyderco knives, and maybe because it took four full weeks for CRK warranty service, I was not attached it.

It was a lightly used Sebenza 21. I should have tried out a brand new one.

I certainly didn't pop anyone's balloon. CRK makes a good knife, many would say a great knife. Enjoy the knife and maybe this won't be your last. But it could be your last as they are durable regular use knives.

Part of the reasons I choose a particular knife is simply that I have to like it. There is lots of sharp steel around.

Something strange happened today. I rubbed up against some cabinet handles and scuffed up the Umnumzaan, and I literally don't care, which is wierd, this thing truly does look better with some character marks. Bought this sucker to use.

A knife is more fun when you use it.

Also, does the pocket clip screw use the same bit size as the standoffs?

You just cant beat a CRK. Ive owned lots of knives but the CRK's always seem to acquire more pocket time. Every new purchase may see a day or two of carry but the CRK always comes back for some reason.
There's a magical perfection that I just dont have the vocabulary or intelligence to explain.
