benchmade 710 returns for 2024

Pricey, but I like the new handle designs. Definitely on my radar.

I never did understand the slight recurve, however.

Still a great knife. Bought mine umpteen years ago, the first Axis lock I'd seen. Benchmade's D2 and S30V (ref: Mini-Rukus) both seem very fine-grained, probably something to do with their heat treat.

Nice way to bring the 710 back. One Benchmade that I’ve never owned and probably too big for my current EDC, but it makes me want one.

Hmmmm...
I'm gonna have to make room somewhere; for one of those.
I wonder if the flat-wound Omega springs will fit other models?

I love the 710 and have a bunch....so clicked the video..excited until I saw the handle grooves and looks like cerakoted blade and thought...not loving it but okay is what it is...

then heard the price point and I laughed out loud. they've lost their minds........

I posted my thoughts in the BM sub-forum, but I'll echo them here and say that I'm glad for the re-release, but I don't see myself picking one up. At those prices I'd much rather grab a nice vintage example and have some custom scales made. As mentioned above, I feel there's something lost in the new design from the robust yet elegant design of the original, plus I'm not a fan of Benchmade's love for blade coatings.

As for the price, I'll let them decide where they want to place their product in the market, but I'm in charge of where my dollars go as a consumer, and I just can't see an instance where my $400+ wouldn't go elsewhere. I've faced the fact long ago that the knife collectors aren't necessarily Benchmade's target market. Still, you have to give them credit for listening to knife enthusiasts clamoring for this release for so long and trying to deliver.

I'm personally much more interested in the folder from their new Salt "Water" series. Magnacut, no coating, and with a street price that should fall around $225. Not cheap, but not outrageous by BM standards these days. And did I mention it's teal and orange 🤪

I like the concept, but MSRP of $450 for the base model? That means MAP of $405. That is a deal breaker for me.
Me too, unless I could score one on the secondary someday for $100 off.
This price is high even for Full Titanium. I had to watch a second time to make sure I heard right…. It’s aluminum lol
yet still more expensive than most all titanium ZTs, and more expensive than the new XM-18 3.5 automatic in Al
