benchmade 710 returns for 2024

I must be the only one that thinks the handle designs are kind of ugly. The original G10 pattern was simple but it looked good.
I agree. I was hoping they would bring back the 710, but I really liked the original design. The original g10 scales and satin blade just looked great. This new version with the aluminum milled scales and cerakote blade are just ugly and gaudy imo. That seems to be the norm with benchmade these days. I wish they would do more simple, elegant styles like the old days.

I would love for them to bring back the original 710 in an upgraded steel, as well as the 805 and 806 :-)

I hope just like with many other models, Benchmade could offer a variant of 710 with S90V blade and CF scales. In terms of prices, reference to for example, $252 for G10/M4 Super Freek vs $315 for CF/S90V Super Freek, i.e., ~$60 difference. $310-$350 for a S90V/CF 710 would be within the already inflated range and $240-$280 would be reasonable.

I handled on this weekend at the local knife store...

Did not like it at all. handles too wide, recurve is.. uh.. not great. action was good. but overall a total miss. Especially the price of $780 CDN. when the Large Inkosi next to it was $675 CDN.

Wow, over a hundred more than a CRK Large Inkosi?!

If they keep this a limited release because of it being the 25 year mark of the first axis lock, I will be sad. Like many others, I have the original and the non coated blade is so much more appealing. Especially with magnacut being a great stainless steel, it only makes sense.

Yeah. It boggles my mind why they put a crappy coating on that steel :-(

The coating is a big deal breaker for me. I don’t for the life of me understand why you would ever coat a blade on a folder unless it is to kill reflective properties. It’s just looks cheap as opposed to a nice satin or stonewash for their price point.

Then there’s the price…… Way proud of it.

Bring back the original and charge me $450.00 with a premium steel, satin blade, uncontoured G10, titanium liners and titanium hardware. Then tune it like a custom. I don’t have a problem with the price I just need a whole lot more of what I want to make me pay it.

Ceracote is a terrible coating for a blade because it scuffs pretty easily. Its really made for guns not for cutting edges. It still protect good but wont look very good with lots of use...

I thought the aesthetics of the original 710 was questionable back in the day but I bought one to experience the Axis lock. It immediately became my favorite edc and I carried it for years. It is definitely one of my all-time favorite folders. I think the new version is uglier than a plugged toilet. As for the price... ouch! On the other hand, I just paid almost $400 for a made-in-Taiwan Demko...
