Benchmade 710 vs Spyderco Paramiltary 2

I'd say the Military is more comparable to the 710 than the P2.. But I prefer Spyderco's over most everything. P2 (and even Military) are lighter and I'm sure will handle anything you can throw at them other than using the tip as a pry bar.

I thought i was getting the benchmade but no now it seems like para 2. what is the price difference????

The Para2 is superior in every aspect. It truly perfection! All in my opinion of course!

I'll throw my vote in with the Para 2. :)

710 is a classic but damn, the Para 2 is SO nice.

Para2 for general utility, BM 710 for self-defense.

Havind said that, buy both. They are among the best in their classes.

Too bad the spyderco para2 sprints are unavailable and are being sold at a more ridiculous mark up on the secondary than a hinderer !!! At normal dealer price they are a steal for what you get !!!

I feel the 710 is the better choice. The OP mentioned hard use. The 710 is the tougher knife. It's a proven design that's had no need to change. The lock is the best for edc. The company has the best customer service I've used, and I think you're smoking something if you say Spydercos is better.

You can get a brand new sprint Para2 CTS-20CP for 180 bucks from eBay right now if you want...

A few days ago you felt decided on getting a CS Lawman when you asked about it compared to another knife. I think the Lawman is a better choice for an "edc with some harduse" over the 710 and Para 2 and will save you some money. Just have to sharpen it up a little sooner and you can get some good sharpening supplies with the $60 or so that you saved.

If you already got some good sharpening supplies, you can use the extra $60 or so on another good folding knife with different blade and handle shapes or materials and start figure out what works best for you personally while having a back-up to the Lawman.

I think it's better to know what you like and what seems to work best for you before the jump to the more expensive stuff.

That is a matter of taste.
For me neither of two looks the best.
And I wander why Military and Paramilitary lovers like always ready to work overtime to let everybody know how much they love these knives? Yes, the design looks a bit ugly - but you can hardly shock anybody nowdays saying that you like it. So guys, there are already too many of you, that is not cool anymore! ;)

I currently own a Para 2 in S30V, and a 710 in M390. The 710 has kicked the Para 2 out of my pocket. More blade, stronger tip, better steel, slimmer profile/carry,and better fit and finish. Also, my 710 came hair whittling sharp and sharper than the Para 2. My other Benchmades always came a lot duller, but it looks like BM is picking up the slack.

I have a Para 2 in 20CP on the way, though. Maybe that will reign as the new champ, I'll have to see.

I also have the Zt300...comparable to the ZT200 in size and i think it's a little too large for EDC. I think i'll only use it for camping or outdoors. I am 6' 270 lbs too.

I prefer the 710 or Gayle Bradley for EDC.
