Benchmade 710 vs Spyderco Paramiltary 2

That is a matter of taste.
For me neither of two looks the best.
And I wander why Military and Paramilitary lovers like always ready to work overtime to let everybody know how much they love these knives? Yes, the design looks a bit ugly - but you can hardly shock anybody nowdays saying that you like it. So guys, there are already too many of you, that is not cool anymore! ;)

Instigating isn't cool either ;)
No one is working overtime on anything, simply stating and sharing opinions. Instead of detracting from the original topic, try and maybe be a little more productive to the discussion. So you don't like either design, dually noted.

Benchmade 710, is a beautiful knife, and also very strong.
Para 2 is a also a great knife, but the 710 design is more appealing to me, and plus, it has a longer blade.
Over the two, id take the 710 any day.

Para 2 all the way, love the size, ergos and of course spyder hole. I like medium sized knives and 710 is a bit too large.

I've been on the edge over the 710. Obviously a nice knife, but the ergos don't really do it for my hand. Might just get one anyway because the double secret probation M-390 for $150 is an insane deal. I do have a P2 and I highly recommend them. I think you could buy either knife or both and be assured of being able to sell them easily if you don't like them.

Para 2 all day every day. I'm biased against Benchmade due to their lack of business ethics, and Spyderco is by far my favorite company. But the quality is just there as well.

Benchmade often comes with blunt, moderately dull edge. I can guarantee you, the Para 2 will have a razor sharp, thin and gradual edge every time. Also the very grippy G-10, compression lock, grind and blade shape are all functionally incredible. Also the price is great, $100 for G-10 and S30V FFG

Meanwhile, the 710 is almost $150, and it's just D2 (Not CPM D2, big difference IMO). And have fun re-profiling the blunt bevels

I have two threads running right now on Spyderco and Benchmade folders. On the Benchmade side, I asked what folks like other than the 710 (because I knew the 710 would get most of the nods otherwise). On the Spyderco side, given my specs, the PM2 is getting recommended a lot. I decided to go with the 710 M390. I figure, get the LE knife now and then later, if I want it, pick up the regular production PM2.

So my advice, get both! ;)

Wise decision :) If I were to decide it would be Para2 (or its larger cousin the Military) based on ergos and the lack of recurve in the blade. I'm not too great at sharpening :) My Mili has served me with distinction for a couple of years now, and I'm glad I got one.

The 710 costs $106.25 once you get around Benchmades MAAP. 710 is much classier and attractive knife. Similar weight and closed length, but bigger, more useful blade. Best lock on the market. It is pretty one sided in my opinion.

710 is a classic.
