Benchmade 808 Loco Axis Lock

Decent blade length and thickness. Still has the look of one of those knives you really want to feel in hand before you buy. Guess I'll have to wait and see what the feedback is once others start to get them..

Sucks not having any knife stores were you live!

There is nothing very Loco about it for $230.

For less money you can get more in the Contego in M4 or M390 or ZT with Elmax or M390

Actually it's less Loco than the 940-1 for more money. CF and superior steel.

Say what you want, but I buy a knife for more reasons than steel and I think the 940-1 and Contego are terrible designs.

This is an awesome design, good steel (although M390 would be over the top), 3D machined G10, and it's enormous! I'd pay $230 for it. :emot-yarr:

Its great to see Benchmade experimenting with blade shapes and new models. This is probably the least attractive BenchMade I have ever seen. It is unique though! The good news is I still have several models on my list.

agreed (except point about contego). I'm fine with bm's s30v (check out the bm torture test on 162 were anyone to ave doubt's...). this will be my first 2015 model purchase. definitely like the different design elements all rolled into one, ala grip, rift, & just a touch of snody.

I'm with nosuchagency on this one.

I'm just hoping Benchmade does one of their testing videos for the Loco. I'm curious how the lock will measure up to the Adamas'.

I was very skeptical when I saw the first images of this knife but it has grown on me after watching Shot Show videos on it and learning more about it. I see that the black/partially serrated version is starting to trickle out to the dealers. Hopefully the satin/PE won't be far behind as I think I will check it out.

*edit* Well now Knifeworks shows the satin PE as available to ship...was going to get the Vicar but thinking of pulling the trigger on this one first.

As I've thought about this model, it seems to, sort of, be reminiscent of the Lone Wolf Raven and/or Longhorn. (Upgraded with thicker steel, and an axis lock...) I wonder if that was what they were going for. Benchmade hasn't named a designer yet, right?

It isn't as beefy as the Adamas lock, which was beefed up from the standard lock. This one has the standard lock, I do believe.

I believe the design was done in-house on this one.

and where are you guys seeing sbk in stock; all i'm seeing is satin plain edge?

Both the lock and pivot seem larger than say on the griptillian for example, hopefully comparison shots will be forthcoming.

Ok, I got the 808 in the mail just hours ago and all I can say is, Wow.
I am really taken with this knife.
Nice thick blade, nice blade shape/profile and an oval hole... all good.
Lanyard hole exactly where it should be.
G10 scales are a little smooth.
But that, in reality, is not an issue. ;)
I am delighted to say the decorative pivot and pivot screw measure out to .270".
Now for those that don't understand my delight the measurement of .270" means this knife has got the same build as the Adamas.
That, for me, is freakin' awesome.
Super duty build, I like that.
All in a package that's a little bigger than a full size Ritter/Grip.
Hey, wait a minute.....hold on?....A XL Griptilian with full liners and a Adamas build?
Oh my, I am in love with this thing.
I am Loco for the Loco!
Grand slam Benchmade!

Some quick comparison pics. I just received this a few hours ago but so far I really like how it feels in the hand, centering is perfect, and despite its weight, it feels great in the pocket. The reason I included the Manix 2 XL, apart from size comparison, is that like the Manix 2 XL, the Loco can be deployed with either the thumb or a middle finger flick, but the Loco deploys MUCH more easily than the Manix 2 XL with a middle finger flick and I find that method to be the easiest on the Loco.
