Benchmade 808 Loco Axis Lock

I'm really liking those scales Keyman! Any chance we could see some more pics? I have a Loco on the way; if I like it enough I'll be very tempted to order a set from you.

Thanks guys, I'm lovin' my Loco!

I went to blade HQ for an SNG. I ended up with the 808. It just felt right. Keyman, those cf scales are amazing.

i have one of these, and i like it a lot. i have to say, its very comparable to the benchmade mini onslaught. similar type of feel, although the 808 is heavier and thicker.

I just purchased one. I don't think I've ever bought a folder that was this heavy. How does it carry in pocket, guys?

church, I think it depends on what you're accustomed to carrying. I don't mind the weight aspect at all, but my favorite edc is also a 520. personally, I really like the substantial overall feel of the loco. my guess is if/when bm does a product test video on this thing, the lock strength will more or less match the adamas'.

I'm still confused at why this is a black class (tactical) model? Is it the thickness of the blade? Because aside from that I don't get it. Smooth scales and a smooth spine, doesn't really read tactical? What am I missing?

good question! was wondering about that..

i'm considering it as a heavy duty knife i can strap a zip-lock on the hole make it "wave-able".
but if the handle is as slick as the Adamas with no gimping all around like
the Adamas has, then it does not sound self protect oriented.
S30V i already got, for 200+ knife i would hoped for CPM S30v, or something new.

it has amazing visual design, i love it.
just wish it would be suitable for "tactical use"!

but holding for more youtube detailed reviews..

i think it might have to do with the pistol grip style handle. it orients the tip of the blade forward, similar to a spyderco massad ayoob or a talwar style blade. thats why i also feel this knife is similar in to the benchmade mini onslaught. similar type of pistol grip that orients the tip of the blade forward, instead of straight upwards.

while the g10 is smooth, and there is no jimping, the knife feels very secure in the hand because of the finger groove.

in my opinion it is, the knife is smooth to open and close and hefty and strong, and feels very secure in the hand. if the knife is too thick or heavy for you, i recommend a mini onslaught.

It's all about marketing. The term 'Tactical' is so over used I could label my butter knife as such. In reality there's no difference in build quality between the bunch. Compare a Blue and then a Black and it's the same. The Loco, for example, is a nice knife. But it's just a knife.

that's absolutely true..
i was thinking about this one, because its tough & well build.
and from past experience (Adamas) i can absolutely trust a BM knife.

but for me (and i could be wrong) it need to have grippy handle,
and be confident inspiring.

I'm confused... are you thinking s30v and CPM-S30V are different?

umm.. aren't they made differently ?

i understand that it's the same steel formula, but it's made in a different way.
as S30V & CM154 both have CPM noting in some blades and in other they don't.

i understood that the CPM noted blades was made with powder metallurgy
and others in older way, not the powder form.

scratching my head

There is only one version of S30V, and there are two types of 154. CPM154 is the same powder metallurgy type as S30V, where 154CM is molded into billets. While there are some that could tell the difference, the main one is in how CPM154 takes and holds an edge longer due to its finer grain. Hope this makes sense.
