BENCHMADE ADIRA -thoughts?

Ive had one since it came out i like the large size and blade shape i wish it had the handles of the new limited damascus one : maybe AWT or someone will come out w scales for it that are a bit more solid feeling ; like Quiet, mine wont be seeing any marine conditions….

If the Magnacut blades are sharpened on the same machines as their other knives, then I wouldn't be surprised to see a little bit of rust popping up on the edge. You'll see it every now and then on Spyderco's Salt knives, too.

As far as the Omega springs go, I've been using my Mini Grip exclusively at work for over a month now. I spend most of my day soaked in either salt water or sweat all day every day. The knife is usually sitting in a salt water soaked pocket for up to 8 hours a day. If I think of it, i might spray it out with fresh water and give it a couple of shakes. Most days though, I just take it out of my pocket and put it back in my edc tray. I took it apart this past weekend to clean off the rust, and to my surprise, there wasn't a bit anywhere. Not on the liners, screws, or springs.

I had the benchmade Adira clipped to the outside of my pants as I took a very choppy boat ride during a storm to see whales
an hour off the coast of Monterey, what majestic creatures!...
ocean mist and salt continuously bombarded the knife, i didnt wipe it off, later at the hotel I Inspected it, it dried off on its own and no rust or stains, so while I did not throw it into the ocean I feel the exposure it got makes it a clear choice for me in a salt water environment

I don't care much for the Adira models but, I thought that this knife looked kind of cool until I saw the price tag of $800. Once again Benchmade has lost their f'ing minds.
Where are you seeing a price tag of $800.00 for an Adira? Most places are selling the large Adira for $250.00.

Holy s**t! It’s sold out everywhere I checked. Apparently it’s not Benchmade who are the ones that have “lost their f'ing minds”🤪

I think it is a cool looking knife and when I first saw it I was going to get one if it was around $300 - $400 at the most. But, at $800 you are getting into custom territory. Benchmade just does not make that good of a knife.

I always wonder who buys the $800 versions of a knife you can buy anywhere for $250. Collectors and hipsters, I suppose.

I guess if you had money pouring out your eyes and you couldn't possibly spend it down fast enough then that's a good way to keep the wallet in check

Yeah, I mean, some of their past Gold classes have been really nice, though expensive. This one though, didn't really have anything about it that said anything new, and that price was indeed eye watering. Of course, everything has its collectors and I have known several guys over the years who had every single Gold Class ever offered, and so to them this was probably just one more for the collection.

I agree with your assessment of their pricing, but when you say “Benchmade just does not make that good of a knife” I have to strongly disagree. I have knives from a lot of the most respected makers, but it’s always the Benchmade that’s in my pocket. They are just so damn pracital! That Magnacut blade on a nice “practical” made in USA knife like the Adira is a pretty good deal for $250.00.(something I thought I would never say about a Benchmade knife🫢).

Don't get me wrong, I own a few Benchmades and I actually like a couple of them. I don't regularly carry any of them now, but I have in the past. I just don't think they make many that I would consider to be worth $800, these days. I think that most of there models can be outclassed by other makes in the same price range.
Here is one that I have that is a very good knife.

But they also have some Necron Balis that are running into the $1000, which is into the price range that I can buy a Bali from 29 knives or a couple of other custom and semi custom knives that put the BM's to shame. Even the cheaper Laro Balii at $650 is pushing into a price range that it does not warrant.

That might be the nicest Benchmade knife I've ever seen! I'm not a big fan of the brand in general due to their axis lock, but that beauty doesn't have that problem.

If i could change one thing it would be to change the thumb stud and lanyard color
Maybe a pearl-white wirh a teal hue
