Benchmade and Spyderco

i am thankful to have both and i love both companies,,,

its like when you go shoping and mickey d's is right next door to burger king....

you would think they would eat each others business up, and hurt boths places sales, but in reality, it actually helps both..

bottomline,,,,Sal's a cool dude who really does care, and I love buying both companies knives...no need to have a favorite child, i love all my kids the same. each special and unique

If you think about it any smart knife manufacturer should come here. Companies spend thousands of dollars on R&D. If they come here they can learn things about their product from people who have a vast working knowledge about knives for free.

I respect spyderco as a company more so then I do BM, but I like BM knives better. I don't know why it is just me I guess.

I appreciate both companies. I own almost an equal number of BM and Spydies - and not for any specific reason.

To me, both do represent THE "benchmark" of modern cutlery technologies with innovative designs, functions, craftsmanship, and quality - a standard to which many other knife makers almost are measured up to as far as production blades are concerned.

Price can also make a difference between deciding what model to buy (between the two) as well, too! :D

Thanks for reviving this thread, e1sbaer.
I have 6 Benchmade knives and 6 Spyderco knives and all of them for good reason.
I like both companies very much and think that they are the examples for other companies to follow.
Personally, I prefer Benchmade. As an exclusive left-handed user, Benchmade offers more desirable features for me than Spyderco does. If Spyderco were to develope more designs utilizing the ball bearing lock I would be more interested in their company as a whole, but so far Benchmade takes the cake.

Spyderco hands down! They are less expencive and use better materials than benchmade. They have unique but ergonomic designs

What an insightful comment to revive a 7 year old thread with ;)

But, Spyderco is without a doubt my favorite manufacturer. Very innovative and creative designs, bold and risky approaches (unique locks, handles, blade steels, blade shapes, etc), a very hands on approach to customer interaction and satisfaction, wide variety and constant product line updates... They're just addictive.
