Benchmade Boycott?

I remember talking to this guy on youtube once. He was telling me weird things about how Benchmade plans to rule the United States and take over all businesses. That really creeped me the hell out.

Benchmade conspiracy ?! Lmao. Yeah, they are in with the bankers, they are going to take over the USA... hA!

Strange enough, all the links that have been posted to warn us about JB, has made me like him even more.. Seems like a straight-shooter to me...

If by straight, I hope you mean straight into crap.
This is in my opinon:
He seems to be shady, and uses underhanded tactics.
On one point, he'll say he refuses to sell Benchmade for "cheap" products, while half his stuff is junk.
Then all he does is bad mouth other companies, and encourages the sale of questionable (to the government, which I now dislike) products.

You can't deny the fact that most everyone that posts some kind of feedback for him has been positive, I have yet to see negative, (not saying there isn't any). I personally have not made any transactions with him so my knowledge of him is limited, I am only going on what I have read, and I have read alot..

I aknowledge that he is a good buisnessmen when it comes to actual selling.
But other than that I just don't like him as a person.

You don't like him as a person, why? Is it because he stands up for himself, and refuses to be bullied? Or is it because he has called out and is fighting a knife company that you happen to like alot? Or is it just his attitude in general?

Well if you like doing business with characters who steal other peoples video and work for use on his own site.

Ships disassembled autos thru the mail system (which are both illegal) while assuring you it is ok to do so (to make the sale), Browbeats or blocks anyone who makes any type of neg comment about his abrasive demeanor or shady business practices and casts the knife industry and online businesses in a bad light which does a disservice to everyone...... It is your right to do so.

This.

I never said he was perfect.. But, do you believe Benchmade conducted themselves in a way that represents the knife community in a positive way? Or do you believe all his postings about Benchmade are false and slander?? If you do believe Benchmade has done some wrong, I would hope you would discontinue your business with JB as well as Benchmade knives.

I would never conduct buisness with him. Ever.
I would with Benchmade, even after the whole balisong thing, yes "Bali-Song" may be stupid, but most Americans know them as butterfly knives. Judging by his site, the way he probably sold his balisongs was to make them look like a Benchmade.
If anything, Benchmade probably made him shape up, but he ignored it.

Seems to me that Benchmade is alittle "Sue-Happy", I understand you have to protect the interests of your business but some of these lawsuits are bit silly.

Some are dumb, but the way he conducts himself shows that he has little to no class at all.

Yeah, he might be alittle wacky with a few of his methods. But what gives Benchmade the right to act as the "King-Shit of the Knife World" that tries to push everyone else out of the way, as if they want NO competitive companies to exist. In my opinion it brings them nothing but bad press. I realize their products are great, but there are many other great ones out there to. Just seems they like to intimidate everyone with Lawyers and legal action.

Once in a while I read a thread , like this one , and follow links , etc. . Strange how bad some folks' manners are .
I always found that standing on one's own merits would sell product , and bashing only costs one business , as it is a major turn-off to decent folk .
( decent folk , you know , the type that has a job and mula :D )

Well, did benchmade really trademark the word "balisong"? If that's true, that's chickenshit afaic...

That said, here's the email conversation I've been having with him tonight:

Hey JB, got my knife today, the blue Herbertz.
I really like this model, I'd like to get a few more in various colors.
Locks up tight, looks like good steel, obviuosly well made.
Ooh and it's FAST! This is definitely exactly what I'm looking for.

Only thing is, this particular one looks like it got rode hard and put
up wet. Are there any in that collection free of corrosion and
nick/scratches? If they're all like that, I'll have to switch to one of your Italian
models. I think it may be humidity/moisture damage from storing them improperly.
Although this one also has a nick or two that makes it look like it may have been used a little.
No problem my friend I'm not upset, but I would like to see what we can work out about this.
I can snap some pics if you like.

They are from 1980, they are not used but they do have the scratches that you are pointing out. They are 30 years old.

Tippet said:
I see, well the scratches aren't much of an issue, but the corrosion on
the spine and in/under the bolsters is not what expected. What can you do?
Are the rest of them like that too? Didn't notice it in your picture or
description.

These are brand new from the 1980’s, classic throwbacks in new condition.
No one else has these!!!!
Straight from a private collection preserved from the 1980’s
These are almost 30 years old now and are like the day they were made.

That is the only one there is and priced pretty low they are going for 60 on the auction sites.

Tippet said:
I see. Well, to be completely honest I wouldn't have bought it if I'd known
about the corrosion. How many of the 8" Herbertz have you got, and are they
corroded?

JB said:
Which color? I can look to see on them.

Tippet said:
Preferably in the same blueish-purple. But let me know what other colors are available because I definitely want to add several to my collection, as long as they're not corroded. I realize you didn't intentionally send me a corroded blade. No one's bullet-proof brother.

And that's how it's going. While I'd have preferred a straightup apology and immediate offer to make it right, I'll be happy if he just makes it right.

If he chooses to go the other way, fails to make it right, well then it's not that big a deal. I'll just clean the knife up as best I can and chalk it up to experience...and cross him off my list...life's to short to sweat the small shit

I'm not looking for a new best friend, I'm looking for knife dealers I'm comfortable with. It could still go either way with this one. If he wants more business from me he'll make it right.
