Benchmade Bugout v. Mini Griptilian...

Understandable. Speaking of the Salt, I recently bought a Spyderco Siren, and I like it. But, there's been a lot of talk about the integrity of the lock on that knife. I just got mine in and haven't really tested at all. I hope there isn't a design defect with the knife, because I love it. You ever hear anything about that?

I just replaced my mini griptilian that was my sole edc for 13 years with a mini bugout. I think I preferred the mini griptilian 100%. But I might like the full size bugout more than the mini.

There is no issue with the lock itself. Apparently, some very few people are able to slightly raise the lock bar when gripping the knife tightly, but it does not unlock. Like everything on the internet, things get exaggerated. Spyderco might have addressed the issue now, but I don't know.

Do you still have both? If so would you post pic of the two for comparison, mini-grip/mini-bug.

I have both, the mini grip I got is the sheep foot with 154cm steel and the hollow grind (which I love) and the generic first release blue handled bugout. Both are solid knives, and I feel you couldn’t go wrong with either one. If you don’t have a strong preference for one over the other, then do the right thing and get both 😂

Thanks. Im looking at mini vs mini though. I've compared the full size bugout vs the mini bugout and I'm looking to see if the mini grip falls between the two.

I think I’ve had my mini grip in 154cm for about 20yrs or so using it as a edc catch all. I have really beat the crap out of this knife and it has taken everything I’ve thrown at it. The geometry of the knife just fits my hand. I found the bigger grip to be a little too big and heavy for edc. I agree the mini Bugout is a nice edc but it just don’t fit the hand the way the mini grip does. I just wish benchmade would bring back the partially serrated mini grips. Going to be sending it in for a blade replacement; hopefully they will have a partially serrated 154cm steel blade just laying around.

Oh yea, you've used the hell out of that thing. That's what I like to see! I've always been a fan of the Grip and mini Grip also. And I really like my Bugout.

Haven't tried a mini bugout yet. I've owned a Bugout and a mini grip. I liked the mini grip a lot but I liked the Bugout more. Hard to go wrong with either.

That is one impressive collection of cutters. Nice…very nice. A lot of limited editions.
Oh, why thank ya sir! Yeah I've been really into researching and collecting knives since about 2008. I kind of have a thing for many of the knives that were made in that era, it kind of feels like the golden era of knifedom to me.

Had a Bugout and a Mini-Grip. Traded the Bugout because I like the Mini- Grip a bit better. Never had a Mini-Bugout. I think we're dealing with "mini" differences here. They're all excellent.
