Hi guys,
I haven't contributed much but hey...I'm back !
Since the last time I've sold my mini Grip and the mini Ritter (biiig mistake) - it was a Mini Grip 556, Plain Edge / Satin Finish Blade / Black Handle - I've been using a SAK SwissChamp.
As crazy as it sounds, the SwissChamp is a good "portable toolbox" but I miss the fact of having a proper, good, sturdy and reliable blade.
Recently, I thought of getting maybe a Mora for its lightess but I was a bit ...then thought of possibly getting the Bahco 2448 but this one is probably a bit unsuitable for light an detailed work, then thought of the Bahco SB 2449 but again, I've found the handle a bit chunky.
Back to the original topic , now I have the Bessey as my regular utility knife (below):
but i regularly find myself in a situation where this utility knife lacks of blade length, and the SAK doesn't have any locking devise (sigh, I should have thought about that in the first place).
The mini griptilian springs to my mind and I still have good memories about this little guy.
Now the tough decisions. Would you rather recommand me to :
- Stick to the mini griptilian 556, plain but simple ?
- Go for the 556S (serrated blade) which can come handy but I know that serrated blades can be a pain to resharpen...and never managed to find out if the serrations were really THAT useful on such a short portion of the blade (below):
- Or since it will be for a in DIY / renovation / working environment, I was thinking of this one too (yellow being easy to spot):
The only thing that worries me is that I've found the mini grip's blade to always be made of 154CM, I remember reading somewhere that some versions had a S30V blades but is it me or
Thanks for your helpful input !
