Very nice. STR does great work. I may get a low rider for my 555. Did you have to send it off to STR or did he just send the clip?

I actually like my NRA Mini Grip. Can´t say I care very much for NRA but the knife is awesome. A Mini Grip with S30v steel! It was supersharp out of the box. And I like the PS, it´s (almost) the only PS I´ve got. Great for EDC!

I like the looks of the Cuscadi scales and had thought about getting some but decided to switch blades with the gold class and Ritter Grip. Let us know how you like them when they come in and post some pics.

I love my Ritter RSK-1.

These YouTube videos are some of my favorites. (PS It's not your ears, he's speaking Polish)

Lol jk

I have a BM Mini Grip 556...it was my 2nd knife purchase ever (Only about 3 weeks ago too), and it shipped sooooper dull. anyone else have this problem? i was quite angered because I have no means of sharpening it, and they refused to sharpen it for free.

Will do for sure!

Did you use the standard Ritter blade or M4?

One thing I liked about Cuscadi is that they will make whatever you want. I'm combining elements from a few designs, and modifying the backspacer. It's truly a set of custom scales. With no extra clip mounting holes!

You really should learn how to sharpen knives. Even the best steel does not stay sharp. There are plenty of sharpener guys on BF, look at Maint. Tinkering and embellishments, they will teach you some tricks.

This has happened in the past with many knife manufactures and makers.

Sometimes one gets unlucky....and you did.

cj65 gave good advice regarding Maint. Tinkering and embellishments. Learning how to sharpen a knife is like learning to change the oil in your car. It is something that needs to be done as time goes by.

6 pages and no Pink Mini Grips. Lemme fix that. ;)

Hmm. Last time I posted this pic, one guy acted like it hurt his eyes.

I have a newbie thread up and in it, I mentioned that I held a Mini Grip and full size and loved them. Something about the ease of opening and that locking mechanism. So, I read this thread and need help. I want a EDC and this will be my best and most used knife. I cant carry it into court, but conceivably will carry it on casual days at the office and on the weekends. I anticipate using it to cut paper, cardboard, maybe an occassional boat rope (not wet but that material, fiberglass), twine, electical cords, and that's about it. I do not have a sharpener. I have some 3.5" bladed cheapies that I will keep in case something would abuse my new knife.

What is the difference between sheepsfoot design and drop point? Pros and cons to each, including keeping it sharp? I dont think I want serrated or half serrations.

I read that maybe the 707 is cheaper, but same blade and has a little difference on some thumb thing? Im gonna go price that but I sure would love to keep the Mini or 707 cheaper than $60 or so. What is the 710?

I saw where someone modified the regular Grip down to a 3 inch blade. I am thinking that 3.5 inch is too big for me to keep in my pocket, and some blades at 2.5 are on the smaller side. Or should I really consider the larger one?

I held a Delica and liked it but I did not like how it looked with that huge Spyderhole - liked the hole okay, but how it took the blade out, did not look as sleek.

I like the all black design so are the other editions I need to look at? Blue handle and yellow and pink look cool and if anyone knows of a great deal, pass it on? sblaiss at gmail dot com.

I thought I liked the Leek and its opening system but the Mini, I felt better about the frame lock over the liner lock and felt the build quality was great - seemed like great engineering to me.

My Griptillian 551 Combo Edge. I carry it mostly when fishing or out on a boat. The serrations come in handy when cutting fishing line, boat line (i.e., painter), netting, etc..

I also have a plain edge 551.

This should get you started on the different types of blades. The sheepfoot of benchmade is a bit more modern then the traditional style of a complete straight edge. The 550HG have a sheepsfoot and the 551 has a Drop point.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blade

The 710 is a completely different knife. Just google Benchmade 710 and you will see the difference in materials and size.

The larger griptilian fits the hand better and due to its light weight you wont notice it at all in the pocket so you should really consider it!

If you like the all black then go for one of the 551 configurations. There are plenty and even the 551 H2O is great for water related work.

On another note. You should learn how to sharpen a knife (its like changing the oil in your car or a light bulb. It needs to be done). There is no such thing as a knife that never needs sharpening. If you are on a tight budget and need a good sharpener I recommend this. Easy, compact and does work.

martin, thank you. I am worried about carry length of the blade, but it was light, the regular. I want to stay around 3 inches on a first knife, as it will be long enough to do primary work like letter opening, cutting open darn plastic packgaging on things i get at walmart. I am between this thing, a mini, and a slightly used, forum member owned Native Spyderco. Spyderco will run me $40 and about the best price I found on a Mini is $61 at Knifecenter.

Both are good knives and you cant go wrong with either one. It is up to you to make the decision as it is all up to personal preference from here on out.

Here is an old picture of my 550HG and other EDC stuff.
