Benchmade pricing seems to have changed

Ok so when some one says "the spyderco para crumb is a better knife than the grip", that's just plain belittling to the subforum and opens the door for any and all kind of comparisons

As a general rule of courtesy, it is not good form to start a thread in the Benchmade forum comparing a Benchmade and any other brand of knife. That is, unless it is a casual comment. However, if it is the sole topic of "which is better, stronger, sharper, smarter, gets more chicks, etc." Then that thread belongs in General. It's been something we've enforced for years now.

So people saying that getting a spyderho or flemerson for the price of a BM is a much better deal because they are better built, is...?

As I had stated, subjective comparison and respectable debates.
Not sure if a scenario such as the para crumb is a good reply to my statement. Of course, it could lead to all kinds of bad posts.
My point is more towards an understanding of the protocol of the forum, as our good Mod. has politely pointed out.
Cheers

In your pot stirring effort, you have actually mentioned other brands as many times if not more, than those who were seeking to make valid comparisons.

Look, coming onto the BM subforum and saying they aren't worth $100 but spyderco is, is insulting. But if you don't get that, that points to a larger issue. These same people think it's okay to critique the food at a dinner invite, especially when ones opinion is not solicited.

Excuse me now while I head over to the Bark River subforum...

You mad boy?

Alright, no need to get nuts. Now that you know the lay of the land, let's use our best judgement.

I guess benchmade will not see a cent of my money, ever. Atleast until theyre more reasonable on pricing. When I buy benchmade, I feel like im getting screwed. Atleast with zero tolerance, or TOPS you get what you pay for, and then some!

They have been doing MAP pricing for a while, and I was not happy with that when it started. (Having to click and add to cart or get an email to see the price) This is something else entirely, fixed retail prices. Controlling how much dealers charge, not just what prices you find in a search.

If someone is just using it as an excuse to troll and bash, then no. What you're forgetting is that most of us who are making that comparison are loyal Benchmade customers. All I own are Benchmade knives. I've owned mini-Grips before on many occasions. However, it is still plastic scales, partial liners and 154CM steel. The price is now in line with a Para2 with better scales, full liners, and better steel. In the context of Benchmade causing the end price of their products to go up for the purpose of wanting to position their brand, yes, it is completely reasonable to compare knives in their subforum, hoping they'll actually read it and get the hint. I don't want to go looking for other brands, but I also want the best value for my money. Pointing out how Benchmade has messed up that "best value" position they were in is not out of line.

This is ridiculous, I cannot believe that Benchmade did this, and I cannot believe that they are just sitting quiet through all of this. I was going to get a 555BLK, a 556BLU, a 556ODBLK, a 940, and a 375BK for myself and some friends and family members this Christmas. I wouldn't mind paying $65-$70 for a mini-grip, but there's not a snowball's chance in hell that that I'm going to pay upwards of $100 for the same knife. And there's NO WAY I'm paying $180 for a 940.

And it's not like Benchmade is getting profits on their end from this either, so I don't get it. Just because you've forced the price of your product up, doesn't mean that peoples opinions of it and its real value go up.

I refuse to buy any new Benchmades until they do something about this. If they don't, I guess no more Benchmades for me then.

I was on the bandwagon several years ago, tastes changed. I still own a. 710, a Ritter Grip, a Bradley Mayhem and Marlowe Bali. I don't foresee my picking up any new models from them. Frankly, they haven't really offered anything I'm interested in for the past couple years. These shenanigans are the final nail for me. I was going to get my little brother a mini grip, only if I can find one used.

Wow, what a thread. This is ridiculous:rolleyes:. Benchmade's price is their prerogative. If I find another BM that I like, and I think the price is fair, I will buy it. That's the reason I haven't bought a sabenza, though I really want one. I do not want to pay $400+, but that is what they cost...It doesn't UPSET:grumpy: me and make me want to start a boycott. I agree that time will tell. The market/consumers will either accept or reject this "new" Benchmade and from there it will be their choice whether to sink or swim.

Again, as I said before, you are using an inflated price, stating you're looking at mini grips for upwards of 100 dollars, when they can easily be found at 80 dollars in stock and free shipping. Try to use facts in your arguments, otherwise you make your debate weaker. The 940 I'm also finding for 140 dollars. This is in stock also, 18 left.

But that isn't what people are saying. People are saying that you can get a USA-made knife that's at least the same quality from companies like the one in Colorado for a whole lot less than a similar knife from Oregon.

How can so many people not be aware that a certain site still has a working 25% off code in effect?
