Benchmade pricing seems to have changed

With the discount codes at checkout, Benchmade knives were very competitive. Regardless of where a knife is made, a good knife is a good knife. If the discount codes are gone and those prices are no longer achievable, Benchmade knives become less competetive in the marketplace. It is that simple. There is, and has been too much competition in that market category for any of the manufacturers to make any drastic price changes. It appears that Benchmade is either unaware of this or supremely confident in their product. I think that they are wrong and have made a rather large mistake.

For the record, I am a huge Benchmade fan. I own many of there knives, just check my profile and follow my posts. I really hope that they don't make a huge blunder in a similar fashion that another large manufacturer made a few months back. It wasn't good for said company and it doesn't appear that it will work out any better for Benchmade, although I'm sure they'll maintain their presence here.

What would kick butt is if everyone said: "that's fine....we just won't carry your product any longer. Have a nice day."

:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::cool:

I guess this will make all those "Spyderco vs Benchmade" threads a lot easier to answer.

I know which one I will be buying from now on..and it doesn't start with a B..

With all this talk on Map pricing I had to go and buy the one last Benchmade I really wanted. Between the 5% discount and the br549 code I got a really good price on a 950 Rift. That brings my total to 4 Benchmades. They should last me awhile. BR549 forever! :)

Red, this is the type of stuff, that won't be tolerated. If you want to charge a premium, that is fine by most people. But you had better not be putting out crap products in the meantime. If they are going to raise prices, there will be backlash, in the way of people accepting less flaws, and returning more of them to Oregon, making them make it right.

.
I agree the 555hg I got last week has poor quality control it has machine marks all over the thumb hole benchmade needs to get this in check. wonder if they'll fix it for me

I believe this boils down to Benchmade telling retailers if they want to continue to be an authorized Benchmade Dealer, it's OUR way or the highway.:thumbdn:

Agree but only to a point. What Benchmade is really saying, loud and clear, is that for us, its customers, WE must pay MSRP or hit the highway. As others have said, Benchmade knives simply aren't a reasonable purchase at MSRP.

Lol,yeah just like the old saying. S--t always runs down hill.

Just bought a mini griptilian and a 300 1 flipper for a total price of $175. Email me if you want a coupon for a particular site on the internet.
I bought them from a shoppe that sells cutlery.

I just ordered the Ritter mini grip this morning before the price jumps even higher.

Even 5% sale was better than nothing. It will probably be my last for a while if they go up any further.

Well this was a bad move for Benchmade, I kind of draw more towards the BM being greedy and trying to raise profits, in other words, thinking of themselves as a business instead of the consumers who are dedicated to them and keep them afloat. A customer oriented company will always take precedence over a business oriented one. In this economy being customer oriented is the only way to survive. Unless they are planning some huge company change like moving away from knives...

I would hope for an official comment sometime today. The gist of things based on comments is negative. Go to the only place I can think of still offering BR549 discounts and every one of the favorites are sold out. Anyone reading real news on FB or wherever I would ask for a posting over here. It would be good customer service to simply come to the largest online presence to do this; courtesy of Blade naturally.

Well said and I fully agree. The only knife I currently want to buy is the 162 Bushcrafter, maybe another Contego and another 710. I'd be good after that, until the next 806/805 comes along.

I just thought of something--the places that haven't raised their prices yet are having a great time with all the people that suddenly want to stock up on BMs.

With my recent Benchmade acquisitions I now have a brand new spare of the four that I carry & use frequently: 480-1, 707, 940 & 810.

I don't see me buying another Benchmade for quite a while specially with the new prices!

Same here. I also am not fond of LE's where only the scales and standoffs are different. Who wants to paid double for the same old S30V blade?

I was going to buy my first BM today but noticed the pricing change.

I will not be buying any BM knives for the foreseeable future. I will be sticking to other brands I currently have.

BM just lost me as a new customer.
