Listen.. nobody is arguing benchmade isn’t ALLOWED to price things the way they do. We are complaining about the COST. I don’t know what kind of kick you’re on, but nobody here is saying there shouldn’t be a “free market”. The cost chosen was too high according to many.. thus the complaints. Again: Nobody here is saying there needs to be laws against high pricing on the bailout knife. 🙄
Got it. So just complaining to complain. By all means, carry on.

I would like to write something about Benchmade, but I don't because I don't want to deal with a fan who will defend it as if it were his father's company. If it's really $600 you should stay away from it and go and buy premium brands like Crk, Olemic, Spartan, Hinderer, Les George etc. Even from brands such as Maxace and Rike, you can buy incredible knives for that money.

Note: I am not against the free market. I would like to point out that thanks to the free market, you can buy better quality at a cheaper price. The free market allows you to set whatever price you want, but you face the consequences.
Well said.

No, I presented metrics.. which was comparison to aftermarket options and other knives on the market with premium build quality at similar cost. Others here have presented comparisons.. all you did was generate a strawman supposing people here want laws against ridiculous cost. You made a huge leap with assumptions and presented nothing to defend benchmade. If you want to have an argument about government regulation and free markets, try the PA.. not a thread about a $600 benchmade.

Exactly. Now you're starting to catch on. Good job.

And sales will dictate if the price is too high or not.

I'm curious what the end goal is in threads like this? Is it just to complain?......which is fine. Everyone has a right to complain.

Or do you think Benchmade should have to consult you (or anyone else) before they set their prices?

Or do you think this is something that should be commercially regulated?
I agree with you on this matter. I think benchmade doesn't have to ask anyone anything and the idea of legally regulating it is stupid. Complaining is a completely different matter. Complaining on such a platform may change the minds of some people who are considering buying. This may result in sales being less than expected, etc. It may affect pricing policies in the long run As Keynes said, "we all die in the long run", but that doesn't mean we shouldn't complain about things. Sometimes you have to do something just to show your side like the story of the ant that carries water in its mouth to extinguish the fire. The water carried by the ant is insignificant, but at least it covers its side. The fact that people here say that the money is too much for this product may be a reason for others who are considering purchasing this product to at least reconsider. As I said, I am never against free pricing however, I think we are all friends here with a common hobby and we learn from each other here.It is very normal for friends to think about each other's interests. People who will buy it will still buy it. 600 dollars is not the same money for everyone. It is worthless to some. A treasure for some. Maybe being able to recommend a better alternative even for one person and getting advice like this is one of the reasons to read this forum.
Best regards

Thanks for taking the time to actually explain something with intelligence. I appreciate it.

Again, (3rd, 4th time??) I have no problem with complaining about the price.

I was legitimately curious what people's expectations were from this thread.

Personally, what I expect from this thread is that people who know the market and know the costs will tell me whether this product is overpriced or not, regardless of its marginal value. There are serious collectors, people from the industry and knife makers (just like you) here. These people can honestly compare costs and suggest better alternatives. So what I'm saying is that they can add a little rationality to an already irrational world.Otherwise, if we start discussing the cost, there are S35vn anodized titanium pocket knives for 60-70 dollars. Of course i doesn't expect that much rationality. What I'm waiting for is someone to explain to me why if I have 600 dollars to spend, I should spend it on benchmade bailout and not on crk, or vice versa.

Let’s flip that back on you. How do YOU think companies should get feedback on cost? Again, rather than complain about what others do, bring a solution of your own.

Here is my suggestion: People come here, complain when cost is too high, and hopefully Benchmade does better research in the future before putting ridiculous cost on their knives.
