Damn - you have really nice blades ! Like that CR with the semi- spydie thumb hole ! I have an Inkosi witha spydie hole - love it .Yeah, they've priced me out of their customer base. There's no way I'd spend Sebenza money on a Benchmade. If their machining fit and finish were to get on the level of CRK (probably never ever happen, or Reate and WE then I might buy it if I really liked the design. However you can get some Ti aftermarket scales for your regular M4 Bailout and come out much less than that.
Hey thank you man! I appreciate that. Yea I carry that Sebenza quite a bit, it's definitely in my smaller stash of knives that I use a lot. That's cool on your spydie-holed Inkosi, that's got to be a badass carry! I've really been wanting one of the large Inkosi Insingos with the red linen micarta from.. Well a dealer that I can't mention on here.Damn - you have really nice blades ! Like that CR with the semi- spydie thumb hole ! I have an Inkosi witha spydie hole - love it .
Exactly. Now you're starting to catch on. Good job.“If you don’t like it don’t buy it!!”
And sales will dictate if the price is too high or not.Meanwhile at benchmade:

Three hundred and forty two dang dollars for a slipjoint with a bottle opener on it.
Maybe instead of crying about the cost of a Benchmade, opposers of the butterfly brand could attempt to justify why Benchmade shouldn't be free to set their prices at whatever they wish. I won't hold my breath.Maybe instead of crying about people complaining the cost is too high, defenders of the butterfly tax could attempt to justify the cost? I won’t hold my breath.
It’s comical that in 2023 with the mass availability of info for market pricing on knives that you think Benchmade has to just spin a wheel and randomly pick pricing before getting feedback via sales. Once the price is set, rarely does it change at Benchmade. Also: Not sure how you leaped from complaints about cost to “commercially regulated pricing”. Nobody is advocating regulatory control of pricing.. calm down. If you’re mad that people complain about prices when they’re considered too high, I don’t know where you’ve lived all your life.Exactly. Now you're starting to catch on. Good job.
And sales will dictate if the price is too high or not.
I'm curious what the end goal is in threads like this? Is it just to complain?......which is fine. Everyone has a right to complain.
Or do you think Benchmade should have to consult you (or anyone else) before they set their prices?
Or do you think this is something that should be commercially regulated?
Here you go with your assumptions again. I’m a benchmade knife fan.. not some rumdum in the peanut gallery. HALF of my collection is benchmade. I personally don’t want to see my favorite brand continue down a path of either stupidity or greed. That knife is NOT worth $600 no matter how you look at it. That is custom shop damasteel cost and you know it.Maybe instead of crying about the cost of a Benchmade, opposers of the butterfly brand could attempt to justify why Benchmade shouldn't be free to set their prices at whatever they wish. I won't hold my breath.
And before anyone can label me a fanboi or defender of the butterfly, I'm not. I don't need to buy my knives. I am, however, a defender of free market.
If I DID need to by my knives, my money wouldn't be spent on Benchmade, for a few reasons. One of which is I personally feel that there are much better "bang for the buck" knives available.
Where did I say that? I think you like to make up whatever you want to hear and then argue against that. I'm not playing that game. If you want to have a discussion, you're going to have to use things I actually said. It’s comical that in 2023 with the mass availability of info for market pricing on knives that you think Benchmade has to just spin a wheel and randomly pick pricing before getting feedback via sales. Again, I didn't "leap" to that conclusion. I asked questions, wondering what you want the outcome to be. You should try paying closer attention. Also: Not sure how you leaped from complaints about cost to “commercially regulated pricing”.
Lol ...don't even know where to begin here. It's comical that a guy mad about the price of a knife is using phrases like "calm down" , "mad", "scream at the sky" when I say (in response to you thinking prices are out of control) that it's a free market and Benchmade can set their prices however they want.calm down. If you’re mad that people complain about prices when they’re considered too high, I don’t know where you’ve lived all your life.
That’s what people do.. complain about prices. Eggs, bread, milk, or Benchmade knives. Just relax. If it makes you that mad, don’t participate. I already (twice in fact) asked people here to defend the $600 cost of the knife and no one wants to step up to the plate. So scream at the sky all you want.
So are you going to defend the cost of the $600 knife, or just continue to whine and cry about people whining and crying? I’ll listen to you if you have an argument for the former.. not the latter.Where did I say that? I think you like to make up whatever you want to hear and then argue against that. I'm not playing that game. If you want to have a discussion, you're going to have to use things I actually said.

I'm not having that strawman argument with you.
I don't disagree with you on that. No, see...I don't have to justify benchmade prices.....least of all to you.So are you going to defend the cost of the $600 knife, or just continue to whine and cry about people whining and crying? I’ll listen to you if you have an argument for the former.. not the latter.
So we are at an impasse. We complain about cost and you don’t like people who complain about cost. Go your separate way instead of trying to dictate what we can discuss. You aren’t contributing, objectively.I don't disagree with you on that.
But Benchmade either IS or IS NOT free to set their own prices, right? I don't think you're against free market. And no one wants to see prices go up on their favorite things. So I'm just curious on where you go from here?
I come back to don't like it?....don't buy it.
And if Benchmade continues down that road, then maybe they "used" to be one of your favorites but they aren't anymore?
If you’re not going to defend the $600 cost, why COMPLAIN about people bashing it?No, see...I don't have to justify benchmade prices.....least of all to you.
I've already said I don't think that knife is worth the price. And I've said that you posted a good money saving workaround.
My question to you, or anyone else complaining about the price.....what is the end goal?
If it's just to complain....fine. I'm okay with that. But beyond that, I'm wondering what expected outcome there is that doesn't come dangerously close to impinging on free market.
Sales will determine if they set the price correctly.
Only because you aren't paying attention to what i actually wrote. I asked questions that you apparently can't or won't answer. So we are at an impasse.
Stop making things up. Where did I say that?We complain about cost and you don’t like people who complain about cost.
Please point out me trying to "dictate" anything. TIAGo your separate way instead of trying to dictate what we can discuss. You aren’t contributing, objectively.
Because I'm in favor of a free market and Benchmade's right to price however they want. Are you?If you’re not going to defend the $600 cost, why COMPLAIN about people bashing it?
John, not worth your time. Trust me.Only because you aren't paying attention to what i actually wrote. I asked questions that you apparently can't or won't answer.
Stop making things up. Where did I say that?
Please point out me trying to "dictate" anything. TIA
Take that crap back to w&c where it belongs.John, not worth your time. Trust me.
Listen.. nobody is arguing benchmade isn’t ALLOWED to price things the way they do. We are complaining about the COST. I don’t know what kind of kick you’re on, but nobody here is saying there shouldn’t be a “free market”. The cost chosen was too high according to many.. thus the complaints. Again: Nobody here is saying there needs to be laws against high pricing on the bailout knife.Because I'm in favor of a free market and Benchmade's right to price however they want. Are you?
