  • Today marks the 24th anniversary of 9/11. I pray that this nation does not forget the loss of lives from this horrible event. Yesterday conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was murdered, and I worry about what is to come. Please love one another and your family in these trying times - Spark

Besides CPK knives, whaddaya like?

it's not illegal to sell or possess a flipper in Canada, but CBSA has decided to ban importation of them from the US.

I was worried about this, but haven't had an issue with the flippers I have bought so far. Maybe I got lucky? I bought a Forrum Forge Crux and 4 gents this year off Massdrop without issue....hoping I continue to get lucky as I have the Dao on order too

Has to be one of my favorite makers ... for shear beauty of his pieces ... a nice one there Bob !

I bought my first D'Holder in 2003 and ended up with many. For good reason, in 2007, I slowly sold all but three of them by the middle of 2008. Then "BOOM", the financial crisis of 2008 hit, his knives lost a great deal of value and his pricing never fully recovered, as with many makers then. Now and then I spot a special D'Holder that deserves being picked up, and this one fit that category.

D' attended lots of shows but one of Nordic Knives' shows, prior to it being an invitational, still comes to mind clearly. D' always attended with his wife, Pat, and for the first time ever at any show, he became so sick he couldn't host his table with Pat. He asked me to be his substitute because I knew his knives well and could answer questions Pat could not. Never will forget that.

Great story, Bob....and such a fine and memorable experience. It’s times like that that really can make this hobby/occupation/addiction/preoccupation, so rich and enjoyable. Mike.

Sorry to hear he wasn't doing well ... I had a very nice blade he made back in the late 90's or there about ... it was my favorite hunting knife ... but I was relieved of it's presence by a greedy family member .. and I never found out what happened to it.

But I have always enjoyed his work ... always beautiful and always functional.

Gus, do you know if Mat’s book is open? Would love to get a vest Bowie.

Martin, I had been under the impression that Mat didn't accept orders but produced based on whatever came to mind next. Would be happy to know if I am wrong.

Bob

Thanks for the answer Bob. I just happened to spot his annual holiday Minimudo Exactimundo sale on the exchange.
