America has reached 250 years, and I am grateful to be here, in the best country in the world. Thank every one of you who helps make this country a better place, those who have gone before and risked it all, and those who've paid the ultimate price to make the United States what we are today.
Happy Birthday America! Let Freedom Ring for all time!
That's a smooth plunge, it feels like luck if mine are any good!AEBL

I’m glad I didn’t see that fighter bowie until after it was sold, I might not have been able to resist. Yes Dave, I requested a 4” blade on this one.I should have bought that doggoned fighter bowie a couple days ago.....sigh.......what a beauty......
Did you request a bit more blade length on this one Gus or was it already built?
Amazing! Those look like something a king might be carrying in the olden days.

Man, and king Tut was just a boy right? He probably couldn’t wield that thing worth a shit. The middle one is literally a recreation of King Tutenkhamen's dagger that was found in his tomb![]()
Since I showed the progress pic I'll follow up now with the finished piece.
It is a 5" hollow ground slicer (10" wheel) in Magnacut.
The scales are lightening strike carbon fiber.
I'd especially like to thank Nathan for his understanding attitude towards me making a piece inspired by the FFS.
(this is my take on what a FFS would like like if I could call all the specs)
One little heads-up for anyone with Magnacut blades.
I wrapped (fully heat treated) the blade in blue 3M tape to work on the handle, and despite being very corrosion resistant, I got a bunch of very stubborn discolored lines after only about an hour.
I actually had to go back to the grinder with a fully sharpened blade and do a couple careful light passes to restore the finish.

Nathan also commented on painter’s tape leaving marks on D3V.Nice workRichard338 , it sure looks like a great blade to handle ratio. That’s strange about the tape leaving marks that didn’t turn out to be glue residue.

I know, I remembered that and it was in the back of my mind, but I thought Magnacut is very stainless... damn it!Nathan also commented on painter’s tape leaving marks on D3V.
