Maybe, it's worth looking into...Would automotive masking tape work better ?
I believe the adhesive is different between the 2 ,, I can't remember seeing tape leaving marks on raw auto parts at work (just adhesive at times)
Possible some tape manufacturers I've used design the tape to be water soluble for adhesive clean up after it is peeled offMaybe, it's worth looking into...
It's never happened to me before even on steel with much less stain resistance. The only difference I can think of is that I was dunking it in water repeatedly to keep the CF dust down.
