Besides CPK knives, whaddaya like?

I'm curious what makers on the blade forum have you guys bought from where the photos did not do the knife justice?

... For me it's been JJ Smith, his his knives are perfect, no small gaps, perfectly sanded, super fine edges, not for heavy work, amazing for fine cuts, holds the edge will. I'll post photos later.

Why bother? It won't do the knife justice.

🤣

I think what you're reporting is true of many makers and their knives. Lord knows I rarely do a knife I care about justice with my images, and when I do, it's pure damn luck.

JJ Smith makes a fine knife. He does those hamon thingies that I hear Nathan is really fond of.

I’ve almost entirely given up trying to make nice photos. I just want unaltered color and sharp, clear images of the blade, handle, and fittings.

Yeah, that's my excuse too. That and I don't have the patience to use my remaining time on this mortal coil setting up the money shot. LOL.

It is for sure a time sink. I don't like reusing pictures across the forums if I can help it so if I want to post something fresh in more than one spot, I usually plan on anywhere between 3 and 6 shots. I used to try to do it every day - it isn't reasonable for me to maintain that pace and effort these days though.

Haha me either. If I’m outside doing something I feel kind of weird stopping to set up a nice shot. I hear the internalized voices of guys from past jobsites giving me crap for it. I’m not even kidding,

Well, at least you should feel good that we enjoy them...

...and then curse you for making the rest of us look bad. (Well, not all of the rest of us. There's a few other folks with the patience and the gift.)

I'm not saying his photos are bad, but Philip Patton provides great execution relative to his prices. (Good in an absolute sense also)

Beauty. I have a couple of Jeremiah’s pieces as well. His work is as close to perfection as any maker I’ve had the privilege to handle. And it’s always a treat to discover thin edge geometry…something not necessarily easy to discern in pictures.
