The most I have used S7 is my old MMD V1. It's really tough, but the steel is on the softer side. Rolls a bit when I hit something very hard (like a knot in hard wood), and is easy to sharpen back. Supposed to be the toughest knife steel there is, at the cost of edge retention, and I confirm. Very usable though. 3 - 3.5% chrome, so it needs a little care when storing.

INFI, in use, is quite comparable to D3V (Nathan has done a couple of comparisons if you search). INFI has ~8% chrome, its corrosion resistance is pretty good, a little lower than D3V in my experience, but note that others have observed the opposite. Depends on what you expose it to, I guess.
 
Most wrecked edge Ive ever seen out of Wauseon was a first gen mmd w/ I think sr77 or something like that. These all used the same steel and were marked proto. Wish I could find the pic of the jacked one. Was wavy and wild. They took care of it though.

I've found a few designs that I really like, but they're never in steels I want. Before I knew about CPK, I had sworn off buying new knives and started getting into making my own. Sounds like if I want aN MMD, I'll have to just make my own version in a steel I like.

With the baby on the way, it's going to be a long long while though. So much to get done and the clock is running!
 
I like a campfire 🔥. First cold snap of Fall last night so it dipped into the low to mid 40’s . Low winds and todays high
In low 60’s so it’s Perfect weather to make these boys earn their keep. Ok, play with them 🙄

Same with the temps here and would love to have a fire tonight. Unfortunately, I live in a college town and today is homecoming. Drunk idiots will be wandering around in droves and I'd rather not tell someone, "no, you can't come in the yard to pet the dog/hang out with me by my sweet ass fire and have a beer."
