best < $50 edc

Another vote for Victorinox SAKs. For this thread, I would pick the Farmer or the Pioneer. Another good EDC for light-duty daily tasks is the Executive.

Handle big enough for XL hands, blade is perfectly proportioned for EDC use and food prep, carbon steel goodness, tougher than nails, goes through wood like nothing.

Micra provides more useful functionality than an SAK.
 
I like bigger edc blades, my next two knives will be the kershaw cryo ll and the spyderco resilience, both offer a lot for under 50$

For my money, it's the Kershaw Cryo. I got mine on eBay for $29 with free shipping and I'm very happy with it. Many complain about its weight because of the solid stainless steel frame but the weight doesn't bother me. Its heft feels good to me.
