Best Benchmade Knife

I don't know, if I want a Big Beautiful Benchmade, the Contego is pretty compelling. The 710 is excellent, but feels less "LOL Huge" than the Contego, somehow.

If I want a BIG Benchmade it would most definitely be a Skirmish. Tip down & all. I would put it up there as one of the most beautiful models in their lineup, regardless of size.
For current production models? I think I would go Adamas over Contego.

My favorite is the Ares, any flavor, and the one knife I've been obsessed with since its introduction.
For current models, there's a lot to be said for the 710 and the Griptilian, two iconic Benchmades worthy of the title 'best.'
Currently I'm absolutely in love with the Bugout. Especially with the Rogue Blade Works carbon fiber scales.
In 17 yrs, it's the first knife to supplant the Ares as my daily carry for more than a couple days.

Don't be sad. Pick up two. One should be enough for the rest of your life. The other can be your backup in case you lose it.
I am so with you!

I have, and have used for many years, a D2 710. As soon as I realised it was discontinued, I ordered an M390 version, from the US. Don’t even talk to me about UK customs duty, but it is worth it. I am entirely confident these knives will outlast me. I disengage the Axis lock on both sides (!) at once, and I doubt I will need to replace the springs. But if I ever do, I’ll make my own.

The only problem is that I have three kids and only two 710’s. I guess there’s the Crooked River, and the 275, and many others. ;)

Another vote for the 710 here. I have a lot of Benchmades but my 710 is a definite favorite. Don't how right they got the Axis lock the first time around.

Funny thing is: I hate recurve blades but love this one.

I have said this MANY times and I think the reason is how shocked I was with the Foray.
Got mine off the Exchange for about $140. Wasn’t familiar with the model at all, but figured I’d give it a shot. I am so glad I did!
The knife is worth it for the ergos alone. One of those Knives that melts into my hand.
The hardware is really cool looking and I love the blade profile.
They then topped it off with a fantastic blade steel.
I feel like it’s one of those ‘do it all’ knives!
Total winner.
Joe

Big knife: 710

Smaller knife: I just got he foray and like it a lot. Better than he 940 IMHO

Great, now I’ve looked up the Foray, and what has been seen cannot now be unseen.

Thanks, Joe, just when I needed to discover a new, desirable Benchmade, what with Christmas nearly upon us... :p

The Ritter Grip is my favorite BM still available , but not for long. M390 blade in a classic package.

I think my favorite design would be the mini griptilian. For me, they are just about the perfect size to where I don't feel like I need more knife for most of the things I use a pocket knife for. M4 and 20CV are probably two of my top 3 favorite blade steels (both available for mini griptilians.) I carry a small sebenza or inkosi the most, but a mini grip is really similar to these platforms in terms of blade/size and blade/weight ratios. They are also constructed well enough that I not afraid to use a mini grip for anything that I would willingly use a folder for and then some.

As a bonus, I've found that mini griptilians are incredibly comfortable if you ever carry a knife in your waistband. I think the contoured handles really make a difference here. If I need to take my dog out late at night and just throw on some athletic shorts or sweatpants, I always toss a mini grip in my waistband.

Never thought I would see someone questioning Benchmade quality control. I have several and friends and relatives have several and never a problem. My impression is that their quality is top notch.

Let's see, I am rather fond of the Adamas folder, large Griptilian, the Bugout and the 531. Out of those, I currently own a Grip(in D2 steel) and a 531. Personally, I think the Bugout is a better knife than the 531 and the Adamas can't be beaten for a workhorse folder. However, my knives are paid for and meet my needs just fine.

If I ever misplace them, then, I will upgrade.

This post is way out of the discussion period but what the heck. I have maybe a dozen BM and I pretty like them all but recently I bought one that I had my doubts on. It's the Volli 1000001 self assisted knife. I got this out of the box and it just felt like it had been made for me. I don't find too many of the that feel that way. The only problem I had with it was after sitting there opening and closing it for about an hour, practicing my one hand opening and closing for this knife and then the son of a bitch caught me on the pinky finger right about when the détente and the spring rewind come together. My little finger bled for two days (I mean flowing out whenever I took the bandage off). I should have gone and got it stitched but I didn't. Funny thing is I still really like this knife, it's just perfect for an edc.
