Best commando knife?

I'd say the new Pacific from CRK. So sam who are you are you planning to kill?A knife will make a bloody mess. OJ got away with it. Baseball bat to the head might be better or maybe even a boxcutter. Threads like this make us knife nuts look bad.:jerkit:

Dude, I could sit here and throw quotes such as "if you want peace, prepare for war" and "failing to plan is planning to fail," but you've probably heard them all already.

Hmm, I'm making knife nuts look bad. Go join PETA or something - you're in the wrong forum.

Some forty years ago when I was an "Air Commando" I carried an AF survival knife or sometimes the combat knife (Ka-Bar style made by Camillus). We found mini-guns, Cluster Bomb Units and napalm to be more effective for killing. The knives were great for opening wooden ammo boxes. Now REAL commandos in WWII used those pointy little Fairbairn-Sykes daggers. So if you want a real commando knife, get one of those. Or an Ek. BTW, my friends who were also real commandos (SF and such) often carried the Air Force knife, too.

wasn't john j. rambo special forces? sf=commando! also lile knives (real ones, not united cutlery knock offs) were hollow handles in first and second movies. third movie used hibben full tang. tactical knives would be the category your looking for. probably in the 6"-7" range. brands are up to individual. main thing is good steel, good ht, good design. also gotta be sharp!

Okey-dokey, something specifically designed for the quick, silent, efficient taking of a human life...

Any knife can take a life, having one that looks like a Rambo knife doesn't make anyone more dangerous than having one that looks like a survival knife. The danger is in the knowledge of the one taking the life and no special knife design makes someone more efficient in killing.

Secondly, there are a lot of knife users in this community that are working to make sure that the everything-fearing masses don't take away our right to have knives. And part of that is making sure that we don't come off as blood thirsty weapon wielders to the ignorant.

Chris Reeve actually makes a knife that is given to Green Berets upon them becoming Green Berets: http://chrisreeve.com/greenberet.htm

You however, you might be more interested in these types of knives:

Of those 2, I highly recommend Extrema Ratio.

I'll tell you this, coming onto these forums saying you want a knife that is most suitable for killing will most likely get negative responses.

Great post my horned droog

as it has been said

any knife can take a life

why have a knife that is only useful 1% of the time ya have it??

I would look for a good all around knife as it has been suggested...4=5" bladed knife from good steel that holds and keeps a razor edge

heck even my Nessmuck knives could cut ya up pretty good if needed.. :)

anywho

COMMANDO!! LOVE that movie!!!...do we know who made that knife??

But Sam whats the point? You want to kill someone quietly? A little knife isn't going to prepare us for war. Sharpen a credit card, with a little training you could break someones neck with your hands. Less bloody and still effective. Why would you even care what I think? The commandos know what to do and how to do it and will be supplied with the proper weapons. Same with the Navy Seals. I'm sure they have all kinds of stuff to kill effectively and quietly. I have no military experience. The Wall Street Journal writes an article about people who like knives and their slant is that we are a bunch of homicidal maniacs. How can you blame them when they read threads like this? You want to prepare for war? Get a couple assault rifles and a couple thousand rounds of ammo. I always keep a couple rifles and a pistol ready in case of trouble. I have an uncle that was a Marine in WWII in the Pacific. I asked him about killing with a knife and he just laughed at me. Duh that's what guns are for. If war comes good luck with your stupid little knife. Maybe you could open the ammo crates for the people doing the real fighting. No I'm not a left wing pacifist and no I don't belong in another forum.
When shit hits the fan being quiet is low on my priority list.:p:rolleyes:

you want to be swift, silent, deadly? use a silenced handgun! thats what a "commando" would use. who made that knife in commando?

Either one of the previously mentioned daggers, or a khukuri. Purpose built, and they work quite well.

It depends what the Commando wants the knife for. If he wants to kill a sentry in order to get a bit closer to your objective before alerting your enemy with gunfire then the FS Dagger is perfect. It was designed for this purpose and is very light compared to most military knives which is a much bigger consideration than most people credit.

Now if your commando wants a knife that is equal parts survival knife/backup weapon then the Chris Reeve knives like the Seal knife (I have not seen the one piece A2 knives in person but I would guess they would work as well) is perfect. It is fast and balanced in the hand ,reasonably light and can be used (but is not perfect) for camp chores.
It is one of those great knives that can do nothing perfect but everything well.

If your commando is going to be spending a lot of time on his own out in the bush
like a scout sniper and he wants something to make hides and traps and won't have any other heavy tools then he would want something like a Busse or Swamprat Camp Tramp.
This can be used as a weapon but it is best at work in the bush. A Camp Tramp or Scrapyard HookGuard has a 7 inch blade but can take down a sizeable tree in a few minutes.

Thanks to all for your thoughts. Have a 6:30 am flight out of JFK tomorrow, so it's bedtime for me. Y'all have a great Sunday!

People in the US seem to really under estimate knives and over estimate handguns.
In most country's other than the US knives are much more prevalent.
When the fight takes place within a house or less than 20 feet knives are just as good as a handgun. They also are more effective against body armour.

i did a recon mission last night to my kitchen! used a ginsu steak knife! that ny steak was taken out quick! swift, silent, deadly! oooooooh rah!

My uncle, now deceased, was a USMC 2nd Raiders Marine at Guadalcanal. He used a KaBar. It was used by him throughout the War. After the War, he gave it to my older brother who still has it.

A good friend of mine was a U.S. Navy SEAL who served in Vietnam. He carried a KaBar, also, and still has it.

When I was in the Army, my "commando" knife was a bayonet. Haven't the faintest idea what the model was but it was what was issued in 1959/'61, for the M1 Garand rifle, which I carried. In a pinch, it would work, too. :) As I was never in combat, I never had the pleasure of using my "commando" knife on the enemy! ;)

Samael, are you a kid?

I'm With Scott Dog on this one.

I know I dont belong in another forum. This one is just fine, thank you. I think you rambo wannabees need another forum where you can pretend to be something you are not with others that are not. I doubt a guy like you has even seen a dead body much less one that was stabbed, cuz if you had... you wouldnt be talking about it nor would you be asking others on the web what kind of knife you would need. thus, you sound like a young kid. Try asking that question in the company of Warriors,Cops or Firefighters and you would likely get laughed out the door (If not pushed).

I think guys like you need a few friends,a girlfriend or some time off the internet.

I wish I could forget some of the things I have seen in this life and pray like hell people never see what I have seen. Now pardon me, but I'm going to go kiss my two little girls to sleep.
