Best commando knife?

Kershaw Zero Tolerance makes what looks like a fine dagger-style knife, if that's what you want. Don't have a link for it.

all this talk is getting dull! all the info was given. pick out a knife, buy it, use it! now can we get on with the booze and women!!!

I was under the impression the Fairbairn-Sykes MKI style knives were one of the better designs along the "commando" use range. The bit of no edge in front of the gaurd allowed for wrapping the index finger in front, thereby increasing grip/control.

The later Gerber knives came close, but not enough length of un-edged area.

I believe you are refering to the 0100. Here's a picture:

Nobody's mentioned the Ontario Marine Raider? That is one tough, mean-looking knife. Any commando would be proud to carry one...

I can't believe I read through this whole thread and no one played the DO card. Youse guys is slippin'!!!

People in the US seem to really under estimate knives and over estimate handguns.
In most country's other than the US knives are much more prevalent.
Thankfully, We're able to make use of the best weapons available. Anyone who would pick a knife over a gun inside a room, is a very skilled person with a very specific reason to do that in mind, congenitally deranged, or irretrievably stupid.
When the fight takes place within a house or less than 20 feet knives are just as good as a handgun.
Mmmmm, Not really. They also are more effective against body armour.
Maybe, in a very limited way.

Hi There,

If you are looking for a true Commando knife take a look at www.hillknives.com
They are making the KCT knife special for the Dutch Commando troops.

kind regards,

Werner

I am no expert, not in any way whatsoever, but it seems to me that the best knife for a commando would depend completely on the mission. You might need a knife that is designed for deep concealment, or versatlilty, or strength, or length. No one knife is good for everything. Personally I would want a well made fighter made from a stell like CPM3V or INFI

The best "Commando" knife well, when I here the words Commando knife it immediately conjures up an image of the Sykes Fairbairn knife. I believe this is the quintessential "Commando" knife.

Currently I believe the strongest toughest production one of this design is the Cold Steel Tai Pan.

Randall makes a "Fighting Stiletto" which is also a spin off of the Sykes Fairbairn style. Given Randalls reputation it's no doubt a fine knife however, the current wait is 58 months. The wait can be shorter through Nordic knives but will cost a bit more.

This design of knives has some inherrent weaknesses namely lateral strength. Some makers and sellers are adressing this issue with good heat treating. I don't follow this design very closely so their might be a few more "quality" ones out their. But these two are certainly among the top.

Samael, are you a kid?

I'm With Scott Dog on this one.

I know I dont belong in another forum. This one is just fine, thank you. I think you rambo wannabees need another forum where you can pretend to be something you are not with others that are not. I doubt a guy like you has even seen a dead body much less one that was stabbed, cuz if you had... you wouldnt be talking about it nor would you be asking others on the web what kind of knife you would need. thus, you sound like a young kid. Try asking that question in the company of Warriors,Cops or Firefighters and you would likely get laughed out the door (If not pushed).

I think guys like you need a few friends,a girlfriend or some time off the internet.

I wish I could forget some of the things I have seen in this life and pray like hell people never see what I have seen. Now pardon me, but I'm going to go kiss my two little girls to sleep.

Thank you for the much needed reality check.

we get bodies coming in in peices. its not a good sign when u start to care less about seeing a corpse.

p.s in the army we use firearms.

What makes a "commando" effective is the training not the hardware.Tactics trumps technology every time. You sure don't sound like a trained fighter or soldier. And even a soldier would rarely if ever need to do something like this. So,basically what your'e asking the people on this board to do is to help you pick a weapon to commit murder. If your'e sneaking up on someone and attacking from behind unawares then they did not pose a deadly threat to you under the law and you are commiting murder, period.Grow up kid,and God help you if you really are an adult.

alrighty! now how about the booze and women! truly what any good "commando" wants!

you know it's kind of funny, there are no "commando" units in the US military. however there are: delta force, special forces, rangers, navy seals, usmc force recon, usmc battalion recon, scout snipers, usaf para-jumpers (?), various direct action units. most buy their own knives. (gov. issue is wanting) blades are probably 5"-7". good steel. good design and carry system. and kept sharp! knives are probably used mostly in the rear with the gear! when your ass is in the grass guns are used!!! so pick the one you want and get on with it!!! now about the booze and women!

Hey 1kimo4u,

It's totally your business to be involved in any thread you want, but I cant help but notice that you're posting like crazy in this thread. I'm just curious why you keep posting in this thread and saying "get on with it". It just seems like you're not getting on with it. I hope this doesn't offend you.
