Best EDC under 30$

So I know this has come up, but I haven't found my answer yet. What is the best EDC for 30$? I have a Gerber Ripstop, but the clip broke off, and even if I got that fixed, I'm just not too wild about the knife. I would like to find a knife that is preferably under 30, but definitely no more than 50. If possible, i would like it to be assisted opening, however, i would be fine if it wasn't. I want a knife that has a total length under 7.5 in, but i would really like it under 7. It should be light, and I prefer drop point. I also want a straight blade. However, I don't care if its name brand, but i would like one that holds together, and will not dull quickly or break easily. Sorry for all the constraints, but i want a knife that i want to take out of my pocket, ad one that i wouldn't feel bad about losing, because i could just buy another one. Please help, and thanks!

You're asking the impossible for such a cheap knife. The best steel you'll get for that price point is probably 440C, with the other top two in the price range being AUS-8 or 8cr13mov. Okay steels, but none will hold an edge like CTS XHP, S30V/S35VN, and so on, that can be gotten in $70-$90 knives.

As for straight blade, do you mean a wharncliffe style blade?

While not meeting all of your criteria, the Buck Spitfire/Slimline meets most of them. Early models had slight up and down play but I understand that has been corrected.

im fine with 8cr13mov. I just meant nothing extremely crappy, have run into a few, just dont know the the names. What i mean by a straight blade, is no combo serration or serration. Just a plain edge blade. Im fine with 440c or AUS-8 as well

Look into spyderco's byrd lineup, or the ontario rat 2, possibly a spyderdco persistence.

Ganzo also has a lot of decent quality knives that copy brands like benchmade, at a fraction of the cost, using 440c most of the time. I don't know of any decent models off hand since they are modeled/numbered oddly.

Any model from the SanRenMu 7xxx will fit the bill. Blade length varies between 2.5 - 3 inches, 8Cr13MoV or 12C27 steel depending on model, and all available for anywhere between $10-$15 depending on which online portal you get them from.

The M series from Enlan are also good possible contenders. Like the SanRenMus, lade length varies between 2.5 - 3 inches, 8Cr13MoV steel, and all available for anywhere between $10-$15 depending on which online portal you get them from. The EM-01 is a good option if you can find them, it has been sold out at my favourite online shops for a while.

The Smith and Wessons and modern Schrades made by Taylor (now BTI Tools) can also be considered. Quite a few models have < 3" blade lengths, and decent steel (7Cr17 for the S&Ws, 8Cr13MoV or 9Cr14MoV for the modern Schrades), all for less than $20.

I don't know how hard you are going to be on your knives, but none of my SanRenMus, Enlans, Schrades or S&Ws have failed me yet.

My best advice is to save up some money and get to the $100 range.

Then you have some great options for a knife that won't dissapoint you or let you down.

PM2 or a BM Grip...

I don't think that's impossible at all - just for example, the Rat 2 has Aus-8, and it's only $25, and there are many other knives like it.

This is easy ,get a SAK(excellent quality, excellent warranty, excellent value) lots of options for that ammt. then get a suspension clip usu.about a $1 and you will be all set

Agreed! Alox Pioneer or Cadet and you have your EDC blade as well as a nice set of useful tools.

It won't cover all the features you are after but you might consider the Ka-Bar Dozier. It runs about $20 dollars. Decent knife for the money.

Sak is a multitool not a knife, it can't be opened with one hand. It fails the criteria, plenty of knives out there that can do what he is looking for. Ontario rat 2 is your best option but also Kershaw skyline as well. Both can be operated one handed another option is the sog twitch 2 knife knife decent steel. There are a few options in CRKT as well, should be easy to find a good one just go to big box store and look at a few. Boker has a few options as well.

I like Ganzo, but i cant find any that are 7.5 in or less. If possible, i like the benchmade imitations

There are a few Kershaws in that price range, here are a couple.

Kershaw Intellect 1810 Assisted Opening Flipper Knife
Kershaw 1885 Entropy Assisted Opening Flipper Knife

What you want is an Ontario rat 2

I would stay away from assisted openers in that price range, just another things that can break using cheaper material (Kershaw Cryo would be the only one I would consider). By a wide margin these would be my choices, Spyderco Persistence and Ontario Rat 2.
