for me it's my 2nd gen ZT 0550. Detent is perfect and the lockup feels like a bank vault. I actually have grown out of enjoying the blade shape and ergos but it feels so good flicking it open that I just don't think I'll ever sell it.

Amen to that.
The 0550 is the most underrated knife ever.

The PM2 is hard to beat for an affordable knife.
Calavera Cutlery El Patron was one of the smoothest knives with the best lock up I've ever experienced.
Flipper wise RJ Martin all the way. But I will say that Kirby Lambert makes a great great flipper.

One secondary note, one knife I've found to be so much fun all the time is the Kershaw Leek. Not the smoothest, not the nicest, but that knife so much fun to play with.

Paramilitary 2 must be the best of the one's I own. Also, surprisingly, the Cold Steel Voyager was, considering the price, almost as good.

This one is interesting, the Fox knives/Wilson Combat knife. It has a good, firm detent. The geometrics and the detent make it first a bit stiff to open, but it slams open really fast and the action is as smooth as PM2. With a bit of oil and adjusting the pivot it is even better than PM.

+1 for me on the Boker Kwaiken!

Got a Boker Kwaiken w/ CF & VG-10 last week. It's incredibly smooth flipping on the IKBS. I had heard some people say that the flipper shape seems backwards because the back side is concave and the part your finger goes on to flip it is convex and it would make more sense to reverse it. After flipping it a few times I realized it doesn't even matter. It's literally so silky smooth and easy to flip that the shape of the flipper is somewhat inconsequential.

I agree on the RAT I, they open like a dream. Mine is almost 3yrs old, after about 2yrs it wasn't flicking open anymore. I spent about 15min disassembling it, wiping it down and oiling it a bit and the action immediately felt brand new again. Pretty awesome.

That is an easy one.......
My 12 year old large plane jane regular sebenza.
The action is like ice on glass with a nice snappy lock-up.

CRKT M16 14M - Action and lockup are amazing. I love the safety feature. STURDY TOUGH KNIFE.
Camillus Cuda - Great knife. I have carried one for over two years without a single complaint. Tightened the pivot screw about a dozen times. Holds a great edge, love the action.
Current carry is a SOG Flash II. I love the blade grind and that is why I bought the knife. I love the action and finish of the knife. The only thing I do not like is the handle has no steel liners. I don't trust the knife for anything more than an EDC. I wish the pivot screw was a larger diameter and there was stainless steel liners in the knife instead of just Glass-Reinforced Nylon. Still a great knife and I am happy I picked it up. The handle reminds me somewhat of a Microtech. I feel like this knife could be so easily paired with a Glock, the knife just has that kind of reliable blocky polymer-resin feel to it. The Glock and Sog Flash II just feel like they belong in the same genre. That is the best way that I can describe it. Blocky and reliable, but you may always have that feeling in the back of your head that your gear is made from a plastic no matter how quality the materials and how well designed and engineered. you know?
Grab a Byrd Cara Cara 2 sometime, they're super cheap and they have a lot of the same good qualities of the Flash II.

They are both light, have nice flat ground blades, and a utilitarian orientation, and the Byrd is surprisingly smooth for a lockback.

Mine pops open without a noticeable wrist flick, it just needs a longer thumb throw to overcome the tang drag of the lock system.

The Benchmade 531 is just cakey feeling to me, strong detente for an Axis, so good I can use the lockbar alone to lock the blade open under some conditions, no flick.

Some excellent choices here! Cara cara is the best blade for $ ratio ever IMO. 531 has great action and I love how the lock bar "kicks" it out.

The smoothest knife action I've ever felt is the Hogue EX01 G-mascus handles. I wish Hogue would come out with another button lock with sub 3" blade, g10 handles, and a handle / blade shape geared more towards edc use rather than self defense.

For me it's pretty much any of my KVT ZT's. With special thumbs up for 562CF, 450, 452CF, 801, 808. On the Spydie side, my Blue Weave Domino, and PM2. Still quite amazed at how smooth and free floating that crazy PM2 is.
