Best folding knife for 450-700$!

The Prince Customs Protean is incredible. I think it is right at $700.

Custom makers have started releasing production OEM versions of flagship custom models.

I just picked up the Gecko Customs Sikorae. I like it a lot. Reminds me of a fidgety QC Drift.

That full track and project x are clean
Personally, I sold my full track, but the PX is a near perfect Hinderer. Mine is a keeper for sure. I have a Micarta scales arriving soon and a lynch deep carry clip installed, and it will be an excellent carry!

How do you like the 247?

Of the 3 -- the Rainmaker, Swish & Wayfarer 247 -- I like the 247 the least but only because it's the smallest but as a carry knife it is the most practical.

I once listed it for sale but am glad no one bought it because it would have been one of those knives that I would have regretted selling, if someone did.

Another vote for Hinderer! They are addicting! I own 10 at the moment and I’ve had at least 10 others. Here’s a pic of one of my favorites.

I don't carry them much (if at all) but I've got 2 of those too. An X-18 3.5 flipper & an auto. :)

I went thru a Goldilocks process with Hinderer.

1st bought an X-24 & sold it because it was "too big." Next bought an X-18 3.0 & sold it because it was "too small." And then bought an X-18 3.5 drop point recurve flipper that was "just right."

They might be at the upper end of your price range and possibly a little higher depending on options, but I've been very, very impressed with Herman Knives lately. Also, I would give a serious look into customs coming out of South Africa right now. The ones I've purchased have all be amazing. And amazingly priced.

I was going to say TRM Atom, but they are aren't expensive enough to meet the criteria. I think you can get close to $400 with Ti / Magnacut version, though. ;) There's nothing I don't love about the Atom.

I only have one Les George and a couple of Hinderers. Not my favorites, but great knives. I think a lot of it boils down to what your preferences are and feel-in-hand. I carry a Hinderer Firetac a lot, and hardly ever grab my XM-18. It's just better for me, but it's also one of his models that obviously wasn't too popular.

Love CRKs - I could toss a coin between the Seb and Inkosi. They're both great. I probably have a slight preference for the Insingo blade design.

That’s a great deal for both of those, how is the quality, I’ve never owned a zt!

I've never had an issue with ZT quality. Some of my best and most carried folders, though they've discontinued most of my favorites. Not really in price-range of the thread criteria, though. That's not a knock, it's just the reality of production capabilities of a company like ZT versus a small shop like most of the ones mentioned - it costs more for small makers to do what they do. The 0801, 0609, 0630, 0640 and 0095 don't play 2nd place to anything in my collection.

For that kind of money why buy something somebody else has. Go custom.

I love Arno Bernard and CRK (which is now USA made, but has South African roots.) Where do you look for South African customs?

Really liking the look and design of that Centofante. Looks like it's been out of production for quite a while though - going to have to keep an eye out for one.
