Best Hard Use Folder? Under $75

If the Buck 110 is too big and/or heavy, the 112 is just as good, but smaller.

Ganzo's 440C is hardened on the brittle side in my experience. Depending on which kind of hard use you do that could be good or bad.

I bought a kershaw 4K xl on the exchange, beat the hell out of it and sold it. I don't miss the weight of it though.

Not trying to hijack the thread but I always wonder what exactly hard use actually is for a folder.

If anybody can link me to a thread where that has been discussed, please let me know and I'll be on my way.

I wondered that too. Hard use for me requires a benchmade 910 or a cold steel. guy asking for suggestion. What do you consider hard use? Cutting cardboard? Chopping wood? Pounding nails with the spine? Prying?

The Spyderco Native 5, for instance, is in the ballpark in terms of price and seems beefy enough to me for any hard use I can think of.

Of course, in my environment, cutting a solid zip tie would be considered hard use.

Even though I always wonder what any given person envisions when they say, "hard use," my first thought was Cold Steel because of the bombproof Triad lock. Some different forms of "hard use" for folders include:

Prying with the blade, the very edge, or just the tip
Batoning
Throwing
Chopping
Cutting carpet full of grit
Saltwater use
Aggressive stabbing into hard substrates (wood, steel, masonry)
Landscaping use in dirt and damp.

Each of these hard uses require certain characteristics of a folding knife. Which ones interest you the most?

Talking about what hard use is can be a bit pointless. To see what your knife is to be used for, look at what is covered under warranty. You will find that most companies say they will not cover anything but cutting.

let's not also debate what a knife should be used for here shall we? There's been enough thread like this already. The OP asked a simple question, and you can just share which knife you think is best for harduse under his budget without condescending or turn this into a troll/debate thread.

BTW OP, each one of these are under $75 with CTS-XHP steel. The grip mod i added made them way more comfortable than the plain Al scale, it's like a different knife:

Also the Benchmade HK 14715(aka HK Axis knife) is a very underrated knife, and it cost similar to a Griptillian. Made in USA, D2 Steel, very think blade and tip:

OP says no cold steel.

BTW, I do like the grip mod. I did that on a 0560 with a custom scale. Turned out great but yours look nicer

Yeah i just hoped he would reconsider with that grip mod haha, but he may already own it

BTW, this is a good one too, for $19, but definitely not as hard use as the CS...
