You can order online and have it in your hand in 7-10 days and replace it just as quick if need be? Not something that you might find on the used market or luck on to on Ebay, but very available? AND, Would Ranger Knives meet those expectations? Other Options? Thanks

Benchmade csk II.

3/16, 1095, $65; just bought perfect.

Good choice.

Rangers are good to go as well.

You might also look for a Fallkniven A1 or A2. I have had good luck with Mission knives in A2 tools steel as well.

Watch the makers forum for a Laconico.

TOPS are rediliy available and I've never heard much bad stuff about 'em.

Bryan Breeden

I know, he is a custom. Every time I order from him, he makes and gets that knife shipped out to me faster than any production model. I don't know what kind of magic he has but it works. Bryan cranks 'em out fast. Wierd thing is I always send my payment to him on the next day he confirms the price. I almost always have his knife in my hand before he has my MO. I still don't know how he does it.

That is what I love about this place. Some very good ideas. I forget about many of the production knives out there. Thanks and keep them coming.

I do have a Kabar Heavy Bowie. The shorter of the two. I recently picked up a SOG Jungle Fusion to test out. I also have my JK Super Duty.

Readily available and hard use? I take it you want easy to get, don't care if it gets damaged; therefore tough and inexpensive, but reliable.

My choice would be a Ka-Bar Short Heavy Bowie. 40 bucks, almost a 1/4 inch thick, 1085 steel.

Edit: Ooops, didn't see that you already had this. I'd say you already have what you need.

If the current Busse model does not fit the bill then perhaps something from Fehrman Knives. I have heard great stuff about them and their customer service.

And Ranger Knives are awesome tools. Justin makes one beast of a knife and has always provided me with excellent customer service.

Good luck and let us know what you choose. ;)

I think that the machetes available at my local hardware store would be my "go-to" big knife.

Thanks again guys. I am making a list as my memory went south for the winter, Two winters ago.

I have a short heavy bowie that the Taiwan model. I have not give it a go yet.
