Best Knife for carrying in a suit pocket

That is funny , I can open my triple action just as fast as a regular folder. I have also had no problems with the locking mechanism.

I also vote for a Kershaw Leek. Great knife. Very slim. That's what I carry when dressing up a bit. I also like my Gerber Ridge. Pretty compact and can be doubled as a money clip. Not so hot for SD but I guess it'd work in a pinch.

Nobody's mentioned it yet, so I'll add my 2 cents: Camillus Heat. Not too bulky, not too short.

Let me suggest the Spyderco Li'l Temperance in its spearpoint form, one of the Spyderco Endura/ Delica pair, the BenchMade 940 series, or the BenchMade 921 Switchback. I particularly like that latter one as it is a very handy knife in a very handsome blue color that doesn't seem to scare people and the extra blade is very handy for picky work. It has an Axis Lock, an S30V main blade, and anodized aluminum scales with awitchable clip for right and left carry. It is a tip-up carry knife, but the Axis Lock system holds the blade closed very well.

I'd look at something from William Henry.
I would too, if I wanted to spend $500 on a light-use folder.

I may have already mentioned this, but the Benchmade 440 is my suit-pocket knife.

It's the smooooothest liner-lock I've ever used. Has really nice wood onlay (and a wood backspacer—very classy). The blade is S30V steel, which is excellent. It has no clip, which is nice for an office environment. It's a tad smaller than the Leek, as well, making it a little better suited for non-scary use around non-knuts (also doesn't have the assisted-opening feature, which can be a little much for some people).

Here are a couple links where you can purchase one for <$90.

Save a couple extra bucks and get one of these. You won't be disappointed.

I have an office job and have to wear a suit. I have several gent's knives, but the only knife I've carried at work that could be useful for SD is a Spyderco Dodo. I don't carry for SD, but I could see how the Dodo could be an effective slashing weapon.

It's very light and carries well. I've worn it clipped in my shirt pocket and no one ever noticed it. Unless you look closely, it looks like a pen sticking out of the pocket.

Those suggesting CRK or WH - remember his price point is $50-$60.

I would suggest either the Spyderco Endura 4 or the Delica 4. I would offer the suggestion of the Zytel over the Stainless Steel handles to keep it from dragging down on a suit pocket.

Even better would be to hold off for the upcoming ZDP-189 Delica 4 with a Blue handle. That way you would be able to play with the fancy new steel and have a knife with a more "PC" handle color.

Edit: The ZDP-189 Delica might be above $60 though, not sure.

I missed that part, sorry. That being the case, I'd look at something like an Almite Walker or some other "little big knife" from Spyderco up to the Declica4.

Wow! Thanks for all the great suggestions. I have pretty much decided to go with a Spyderco in stainless steel. (I know that stainless steel handles add unnecessary weight, but I just like them better. ;) ) I have not decided which one yet, however.

I am considering these.

Which of these would you choose, and why?

I almost always carry my SS Dragonfly as it just works for me. All my carry Spydies are SS and I don't find them to be too heavy in pocket. If you're still factoring SD in the equation, the Scorpius should be fairly high on your list as it was designed for some SD applications. The tail can be used as an impact tool or for soft targets. It really feels great in hand as well. I think the Delica4 is your best value as there are a number of options in blades and you can change the clip for different carries. Also, they sell for as little as $43 online(I paid $48 for mine form NGK) . It happens to be in my pocket today. I just got the NavigatorII and really like it, but haven't carried it yet. Similar to the Dragonfly, but more beefy and better feeling in hand(IMO). I can't really comment on the others as I don't have them, but I kind of think the Endura4 is too big , but that's just me. Good luck.

If it is a light summer suit: BM-332 AGR (A.G.Russel) with a clip
Else: BM-850 or Kershaw Mini Task (Wharni) both with a clip

Has anybody mentioned the Spyderco Scorpius? Thin, great ergonomics, good size and designed for SD (although I never use it as such). It is a bit heavy though because it is all stainless (that's why it is so thin too). A VERY underrated knife in my opinion and still one of my most carried blades.

Great knife.

I also think the Mnandi would be a fine choice as a GREAT looking gentlemans folder. You can wear it in your shirt pocket and it looks like a fine pen. Not too sure about self defense with that one though...

I have to wear a suit on a regular basis and what I do is clip my Kershaw Leek on the left side of my left shirt pocket and my pen and pencil on the right side of the same pocket. It's always under the jacket and if I remove my coat for a meeting I just pop into my right pants pocket. Not too heavy and easily excessable.

I would go with the Scorpius, hands down. It feels awesome in the hand, is very thin (without the clip, it's as thin as an Alox SAK single blade), great blade shape for utility and SD, plus the impact tail on the handle.

I had one and sold, and I miss it dearly and reading this makes me want to buy another one immediatly.

Delica 4 if you carry front pants change pocket, Endura 4 if you carry in the outside jacket pocket. IMO, it doesn't matter if you carry in the inside jacket pocket -- you could stick with the Ti lite.

The Benchmade 710 would fit this role as well. A large enough knife to work for SD and make large knife knuts happy, but slim, light, and classy enough to work in a suit. The 710 is more classy and less tactical than the Military. Peeks out less, too.

As much as I adore my 710, I don't think it's a good suit knife. It's huge and it's heavy. It does have a very classy look, it's not scary in the least for sheeple if that's a concern and it's one hell of a knife. But again, it's huge and heavy. So probably not the best for suit pocket carry.

Best dress knife I can think of is a Buck 503. Very slim and very light. It rides in the bottom of the pocket very well. The nickle silver bolsters tend to tarnish though (another reason I love my SS bolstered micarta 503) if you sweat a lot or live in a humid climate.

The 501 is also a nice choice. Though neither of the Bucks are one handers.

Today I'm carrying a Spyderco Police. I'd almost forgotten about this knife lately. It carries very nicely in dress pants, since it's so slim. And, it's very useful for most office tasks.
