Best light weight EDC

The Ka-Bar Folding Dozier is extremely light, lacking liners and all. It works very nicely for EDC roles. I've had one for a while and it carries very well.

Benchmade 530.

A.G. Russell™ FeatherLite™ One Hand Knife with ATS-34.

Both ultra-are slim, ambidextrous opening, under 2 ounces.

My Black Bear Knives Metro Razor is 2.8 oz. That's with a 3.5" blade. No steel liners. :)

I used to sell Flash 1s. I never held one that didnt have a lot of blade play. Thats un-acceptable imo.

+ 1 for Spyderco Tenacious, Endura, Native, or Centofante 3

Hi Guys,

i am looking for a lightweight EDC for left hand carry that can take a beating. Something in the size and weight of the Delica. I have a Delica and want to try something else.
Thinking about the SOG Flash 1. What do you think?

thanks

Well, so far, people have suggested a lot of right hand specific liner-locking knives. I would advise you to take a look at the BM 530, which is truly an ambidextrous model. It is as lightweight as you'll find in a non-Spyderco that can stand up to some hard use.

My Delica is the waved one and the wave tends to cut up my pockets which is why i'm looking for something different. Heck who am i kidding i am just a knife junkie looking for my next fix :)

Greetings Barsoomina: I also carry a knife on the left side. This unfortunately reduces you choices but there are still many designs and brands twhich fit your requirements. Any Benchmade Axis lock is truly ambidextrous. So are back locks. The 530 is exceptionally light and flat. Like the Delica ,it's scales are FRN. The steel is 154CMF. The spear point blade may not be ideal for utilitarian purposes. Some sheeple may find it threatening. The griprilian is light and strong but is more bulky than the Delica. A more elegant choice is the Ultralight series by Al Mar. The scales are black linen micarta. The clip is reversible for left hand carry and they all come with double thumb studs. The blade steel is AUS8. The price is about $100. The requirements for a lightweight EDC are different for an office environment vs. a warehouse vs. construction. A pocket knife spends a lot more time in the pocket than in the hand. So, IMO as a left hander; Office-- Al Mar Falcon Talon, warehouse- BM530 or 940, construction-Griptilian. If you suddenly find some cash, a left handed small Sebenza covers all three environments. You are relatively new here . Google the knives that interest you. Knowledge is power. OldDude1

It is a great and often overlooked knife IMO.

I have just not been able to figure out why Al Mar continues to use AUS8 on those beautiful - and fairly pricey knives. I know they're really well made, but still...

Would buy one in an instant if they moved to VG-10 or a similar quality blade steel.

The Delica is probably the best lightweight EDC you'll find. I would have suggested it if you didn't have one.

I like the Strider PT for about the same weight and profile in the pocket, although it is very expensive. I bought mine used to save a little money. The S30V blade is larger than the Delica's and it seems stronger.

Thanks everyone for the great info you have given me allot of ideas. I am going to do some research go check out some knifes and then choose. i'll post back what i got.
Thanks again :)

I have a SOG Flash II, it's decent but it's also nothing to write home about. The Buck Vantage is a great, inexpensive knife.

the sog flash series(or sog knives in general) seems to be hit or miss. some people get ones that have blade play, others get ones that are fine and hold up well. i myself have the regular flash 2 and the aluminum handle one, and neither one of mine have any problems or play. it really does feel nice in the hand, if you order one ask the dealer to inspect the knife for you and make sure he sends you one with no play.

the bm530 is awesome too.

BM Mini Grip is a great choice. Also you may want to look into Boker Plus CLB knives. Light thin frame locks. Trance and Hyper.

Any CLB's designed Böker Subcom, Wharcom and Subclaw are excellent EDC carriers, small with sturdy framelock. Despite small size they offer seriously good grip and have a lot cutting edge for so small knife.

The delica is a great EDC, probly one of the best users out there for its size and price. Another great one would be a spyderco paramilitary. You'll love the light weight, strong lock, and S30V steel.

I emailed Spyderco's retail sales dept a little while ago about getting a left handed military or paramilitary and was told it's something being looked into, but no date yet. I remember Sal Glesser mentioned something about the military being ready to ship, maybe the paramilitary will be too. Hopefully someone has some info on that. That sounds like it'd be a great knife for you, since you want to try something other than the delica. I believe there's no liner so it should be fairly light.
